The cast of Gilmore Girls has not returned for a second revival yet, but that hasn’t stopped the cast from supporting and praising each other at every turn. Lauren Graham, the actor who portrayed Lorelai Gilmore, has repeatedly popped up with reunion opportunities. Melissa McCarthy, the actor who played Sookie St. James, hasn’t been to as many in-person meetups, but she dropped in on Instagram to show some love. The iconic actor recently commented on Graham’s Instagram post, making Gilmore Girls fans swoon.

Melissa McCarthy drops some love in Lauren Graham’s Instagram comments

Melissa McCarthy and Lauren Graham’s lives and careers have taken them in different directions, but it’s nice to know their on-screen friendship has carried over into real life. They are bringing it to the digital realm, too. McCarthy recently dropped in on Graham’s Instagram to give her a bit of encouragement and sing her praises.

In late July, Graham posted a “GRWM” video to her Instagram. In the video, she noted that she had just enough coffee to make her think it was a good idea to film herself putting on makeup. From there, she chatted, speedily, about her lack of makeup prowess as a youngster and her fashion naivety. The quick makeup video was charming and fresh.

Thousands of comments flooded in from fans, but McCarthy’s words of encouragement did not go unnoticed. McCarthy wrote, “Everything I ever learned was from Lauren- she made me better!!!” much to the surprise and delight of fans. The comment has amassed over 13,000 likes. The video itself has been viewed over 500,000 times. We love to see on-screen besties support each other off-screen, even after all these years.

Rumors of a feud between Graham and McCarthy were untrue

Gilmore Girls fans briefly worried there was some bad blood between the on-screen best friends after McCarthy made some pointed comments about her lack of involvement in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. While the four-part special was filmed, fans asked McCarthy if she’d return. She took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal she had been left out. She wrote, “Sadly, no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow.” Fans were aghast that the team would leave McCarthy and her beloved character out in the cold. Rumors of a feud ran rampant.

Apparently, everything was fine, but there was a miscommunication between the teams. Showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino later revealed that they assumed McCarthy would be too busy based on the filming schedule. McCarthy later popped up in a quick cameo in the revival’s final moments, and all was right in the world.

Since then, McCarthy and Graham have both continued to speak lovingly about each other. They even posted a fun selfie together in 2020, making everyone’s day. We don’t know if we’ll ever see Sookie and Lorelai back together on screen. So, it’s nice to know that McCarthy and Graham are still pals.
