Michael Jackson Said Paul McCartney Was a ‘Cartoon Fanatic’
Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson collaborated several times over the years. They bonded over music, but Jackson admitted they had something else in common. He said that he loved cartoons, but McCartney was more obsessed with them than he was. According to Jackson, they watched cartoons whenever they were together.
Michael Jackson said he and Paul McCartney collected cartoons
Even as an adult, Jackson had interest in the same things he liked as a kid. He was particularly fond of cartoons.
“I’m a collector of cartoons,” he told Rolling Stone. “All the Disney stuff, Bugs Bunny, the old MGM ones.”
He said that he bonded with McCartney over this. Jackson said McCartney was the only one who liked cartoons more than he did.
“I’ve only met one person who has a bigger collection than I do, and I was surprised – Paul McCartney,” he said. “He’s a cartoon fanatic. Whenever I go to his house, we watch cartoons.”
He said they put cartoons on in the studio when they worked together.
“When we came here to work on my album, we rented all these cartoons from the studio, Dumbo and some other stuff,” he said. “It’s real escapism. It’s like everything’s all right. It’s like the world is happening now in a faraway city. Everything’s fine.”
