Miley Cyrus has been working since her earliest teenage years. The singer landed a role on Hannah Montana in 2006 and has been in the public eye ever since. She said that because of her schedule, she didn’t have many friends as a kid. She didn’t think this was necessarily a bad thing, though.

Cyrus’ godmother is Dolly Parton, and Cyrus said she’s learned a great deal from the country superstar. In a conversation with Vogue France, Cyrus said that, like Parton, she embraces her individuality instead of following trends.

Cyrus noted that this trait wasn’t solely passed down from Parton. Because she worked so frequently throughout her childhood, she didn’t have a group of friends. Cyrus acknowledged that this was sometimes a struggle, but she also saw some benefits. She never embraced a herd mentality and has always been her own person.

Miley Cyrus said she has very few celebrity friends

Now that Cyrus is a global celebrity, she can slow down and enjoy life with her friends and family. She admitted that she has very few celebrity friends.

“I am not very active or a very active part of my community of other artists, and entertainers, and celebrities,” she told David Letterman on his My Next Guest Needs No Introduction series (per Page Six).

While she likes some celebrities, Cyrus spends more time with people outside that world.

“It just doesn’t feel like my people when I’m in that room,” she said. “But there are certain artists like Beyoncé, who, like us, we’ve known each other for a long time.”

She said she would always remember Beyoncé’s kindness during a Stand Up to Cancer telethon. She cherished celebrity friendships like that one, but she said they weren’t common for her.

“So I’m a part of my community in that way, but, again, it’s all quality, not quantity,” she said. “I’m not very active in that.”

Cyrus collaborated with Beyoncé on the song “II Most Wanted” on Cowboy Carter.

Cyrus is constantly cleaning up everything in her life, including personal relationships

Cyrus said she spends a great deal of her life organizing and getting rid of things.

“I am joyful when I’m organizing and cleaning — it never feels like a task to me,” she told Vogue. “Everything I do in my life is a little bit intense, but it has to be holistic. And that’s why my eras, they’re not a costume, they’re actually like a metamorphosis or a true evolution for me personally.”

Cyrus is not just referring to household chores here. She said she also organizes and reexamines her personal relationships.

“I’ve even gained the name Queen of Pristine because in every corner, every drawer, every friendship, every family dynamic, everything is just getting an upgrade in the cleanup,” she admitted.

Cyrus noted that she likes to embrace change.
