Miranda Lambert Had a Playful Exchange With Blake Shelton Just Days After He ‘Blindsided’ Her With Divorce
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton announced their divorce in 2015. The couple was reportedly devastated by the end of their marriage and have been on rocky terms since. Just days after they announced their divorce, though, they had a playful exchange on Twitter.
Miranda Lambert reportedly felt shocked when Blake Shelton asked for a divorce
Shelton and Lambert announced their divorce on the same day they finalized it.
“This is not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” they said in a joint statement. “We are real people with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
Neither have talked openly about the reasons for their split, but Shelton reportedly instigated it. Sources say this left Lambert reeling.
“The cold-blooded way Blake blindsided her with divorce, drove her out of his life, and then shoved his romance with Gwen [Stefani] in her face is something that will scar her forever,” a source told Life & Style. “It still burns her.”
Another source said the divorce completely changed Lambert’s life.
“Blake blindsided her with the divorce and drove her out of their home,” another insider told Life & Style. “It hurt her badly and profoundly changed her outlook on life.”
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton had an exchange on Twitter days after announcing their split
Less than a week after the devastation of their split, however, Shelton and Lambert had a perfectly friendly exchange on Twitter. Shelton tagged Lambert in a post to promote country singer Ashley Monroe’s new album.
“Hey @mirandalambert can u believe there’s people who haven’t bought @ashleymonroe new album?” Shelton, 39, said on Twitter. “Isn’t that shocking?!!”
“@blakeshelton no I can’t because it is the best work she has ever done!” Lambert quickly replied. “I love it! We love you @ashleymonroe.”
A number of fans responded with confusion in the comments. Shelton denied having scheduled the posts in advance, though.
They reportedly had a chilly relationship after their divorce
Though Shelton and Lambert had a friendly exchange so soon after their divorce, they were reportedly not on good terms at the time. Even years later, sources say they are not happy with each other.
“Miranda doesn’t want to attend any event where Blake is the star attraction, and vice versa,” an insider told Life & Style. “Their egos can’t handle it, and the brutal reality is that they can’t stand the sight of each other. They’re totally competitive and there’s no love lost, and they don’t want any awkward confrontations. Some might say they don’t want the other to steal their spotlight.”
Lambert and Shelton’s current wife, Gwen Stefani, are also reportedly on bad terms.
“It’s no secret Miranda can’t stand Gwen; Gwen doesn’t have any time for Miranda either,” the insider said. “They get their people to check if they’re going to an event beforehand. Their friends roll their eyes and think Miranda and Blake should get over it and act like grown-ups, but they’re stubbornly holding onto grudges. They might forgive, but they’ll never forget.”
