‘Modern Family’ Star and Chiefs Superfan Says Taylor Swift Is Not Trying to Act Like She’s the ‘Queen Fan’
Taylor Swift has been a fixture at plenty of Kansas City Chiefs games ever since she and tight end Travis Kelce began dating in 2023.
Swifties everywhere, as well as NFL fans, have witnessed their love story blossom from the pop star’s first game at Arrowhead Stadium when she gave Kelce the thumbs up to her being down on the field congratulating him after a playoff win.
To many, Swift seems like the ultimate fan. But during her appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the singer admitted that she didn’t know a ton about the game before she met her fiancé.
Now someone who has been down on the field with her after a big win is sharing how Swift treats others who have been lifelong fans of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, just over an hour outside of Philadelphia. So the Eagles are the team she and her family rooted for on Sundays. Her support shifted though when she met Kelce. Watching him play, she began to learn more and more about the game, revealing “Oh my God, I fell in love with it. I became obsessed.”
So now that the “Look What You Made Me Do” artist attends so many games with members of the Chiefs Kingdom and celebrates special victories on the field, how does she interact with those who have been living and breathing Chiefs football as long as they can remember?
Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet, who played Cam on the sitcom, discussed that during former quarterback Robert Griffin III and his wife, Grete Griffin’s podcast Outta Pocket with RGIII.
Stonestreet relayed a story about how Swift acted when they ran into each other after a game.
He explained that he met Swift at an awards show years ago, but “The first time I saw her dealing with Kansas City stuff was at the Super Bowl when we won. And she’s on the field and I’m down on the field and we make eye contact there with Travis and this is what she said to me: ‘Oh, the real fan!’
“That tells you everything you need to know about Taylor Swift right there. A) She knows I’m a Chiefs fan, and B) She’s not coming in there and trying to say now she’s the queen fan. She just in that moment gave it up to me because she knows I’ve been a fan of this team forever and ever and ever.
Stonestreet added, “So we love her. First, we love Travis, and then as it goes … If my friend loves their wife, then I love their wife too. And all I have to know is that Travis loves Taylor. And they’re a great couple, and I’m in, I’m invested.”
The comedic actor also insisted that now, “[Swift] is the queen of our kingdom. We love having her.”
