Sex and the City might have been about four friends at its core, but the guest actors and the characters that they played were pivotal to the show’s success. They brought the series to life and helped develop a rich tapestry of social obligations, close friends, and acquaintances that breathed additional life into the show’s storylines. Guest actors, however, could sometimes be a liability. Molly Price revealed that she almost gave away a reboot secret while working on the set of And Just Like That… Craft Services gave her a quick out.

Molly Price almost revealed Mr. Big’s death during filming

Molly Price, the actor who took on the role of Susan Sharon, recently joined Kristin Davis on her podcast Are You a Charlotte?. During their chat, Price chatted about her time on both Sex and the City and her appearance on And Just Like That… She even confessed to scampering off to Craft Services after almost accidentally revealing season one’s biggest secret.

Price recalled how secretive the cast and crew were about Mr. Big’s death. They were so careful about the secret that they even used different pronouns so background actors wouldn’t catch on to whose funeral they were attending. It was all going swimmingly, insisted Price, until she delivered her line and said “he” instead of “she” as instructed. The background actor she was speaking to caught on, questioning her about the line.

Price said she got defensive, suggesting the actor ask the writers before scampering off to Craft Services to avoid the question again. While Price did her part to keep the secret, fans largely expected that Mr. Big would likely die in the series, as the storyline for the third movie, which included his death, had been leaked years earlier.

Who was Susan Sharon?

Molly Price first appeared as Susan Sharon, a friend of Carrie Bradshaw, in Sex and the City. She starred in two episodes: “The Awful Truth,” which aired in the show’s second season, and Season four’s “A Change of Dress.” In her first appearance, she opens up to Carrie about her troubled marriage after her husband kicks Carrie out of their shared home. In season four, she unwittingly causes conflict when she asks about Carrie’s engagement ring. While Susan Sharon was only seen twice, it was implied that she was a close friend of Carrie’s who disappeared for long stretches of time because of her job and her demanding husband.

Price reprised the role in season 1 of And Just Like That…, appearing briefly during Mr. Big’s funeral scene. Her appearance at the funeral lends further credence to the notion that Susan and Carrie were close. She has not appeared again just yet, but fans remain hopeful. While the character didn’t play a pivotal role in the storyline, Susan Sharon consistently brought an interesting energy to her scenes.
