What names come to mind when you think of the most searched people of 2025?

No matter where you looked this year, two names that garnered separate headlines almost daily were Taylor Swift and Donald Trump. Swifties made the former one of 2025’s most Googled people as she continued her Eras Tour in various countries. She also reclaimed ownership of the master recordings in May. And, in October, the singer dropped her The Life of a Showgirl with lyrics that stirred up plenty of theories in fan forums and TikTok threads.

The biggest Swift news of all came on Aug. 26, when she and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce nearly broke the internet announcing that they were engaged. Their joint post quickly racked up more than 35 million likes on Instagram. Search engines lit up with fans looking up as much as they can about their relationship and any leaks about their wedding plans.

As for the latter, whether it was a breaking political controversy, a fiery rally speech, or another explosive interview, Trump’s name soared above all others on Google. In back-to-back metrics released this year, the POTUS topped global search charts with more than a hundred million monthly hits at times.

Another name that people couldn’t stop searching for this year is Sabrina Carpenter. Her album Man’s Best Friend broke records as the most-streamed album in a single day by a female artist, and brought her into global conversation as both a singer and a cultural figure. She walked red carpets in stunning couture, and every outfit or interview became a top search term, especially among younger fans who couldn’t get enough of Carpenter’s style and voice.

One other name that kicked the search engines into high gear in 2025 was Bianca Censori, thanks to her appearance with husband Kanye West at the Grammys in February.

For their orchestrated stunt, the two walked the carpet and when they stopped to pose for the cameras, Censori took off her fur coat to reveal a sheer body-hugging mini dress with nothing underneath. The absence of any undergarments left nothing to the imagination and shocked fans everywhere. West declared that the appearance made his wife the “most Googled person on the planet,” and he was right for a brief chaotic moment when search bars around the world flickered with millions of queries about her identity.

“The world’s most Googled people in 2025 show that virality now rivals traditional fame,” said Silvana Vladimirova, data analyst at PlayersTime. “While established figures still lead, controversy and unexpected viral moments, often rooted in fashion, internet culture, or true-crime stories, are increasingly pushing new names into global search rankings.

“In a media landscape shaped by short clips and social platforms, brief moments can generate search spikes that rival years of career-building. Together, the data suggests that attention today is driven less by longevity and more by the ability to capture the cultural moment.”
