How Much Older Is Justin Trudeau Than Katy Perry?
People can’t stop talking about Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s relationship. The “Part of Me” singer and former Prime Minister of Canada stayed mum about the romance for months before confirming the rumors when they stepped out holding hands for Perry’s 41st birthday in Paris.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, the two have been publicly giving nods to one another.
During Perry’s concert in Prague, someone in the audience proposed to her but she let that person down by declaring that she’s taken, saying: “This guy is trying to get me to marry him, and he has a ring in his hand. No! I am dating someone else for crying out f****** loud.” Then on Oct. 31, Trudeau shared a post of the Halloween costume he and his son made, which was from one of Perry’s viral moments.
Here’s more on that and a few other things you didn’t know about the pair, including what their age difference is and who has the higher net worth.
What is Perry and Trudeau’s age difference?
Perry was born in Santa Barbara, California, on Oct. 25, 1984, to parents Mary and Maurice.
Thanks to her successful music career, worldwide tours, and her previous stint as a judge on American Idol, Perry has a net worth today of around $400 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Trudeau was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on Dec. 25, 1971, making him 12 years and 10 months older than Perry. His father was Pierre Elliott Trudeau, also a former Prime Minister of Canada who served from 1968 to 1984. The younger Trudeau became the PM in 2015 and resigned from office earlier this year.
Trudeau’s net worth is not publicly disclosed; therefore, figures have a wide range from anywhere between $10 million and $96 million, essentially from an inheritance he received.
Trudeau dresses up as Perry’s viral left shark
Trudeau took to Instagram with a shoutout to Perry on Halloween as he showed off his and his son, Hadrien’s costumes. Trudeau made it a point to note that he was the shark on the left.
Of course, that costume is a nod to the famous “left shark” who performed onstage with Perry during her Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance. As the singer belted out “Teenage Dream,” the shark on the left (dancer Bryan Gaw) appeared to forget some of the dance moves, so he improvised. His moves went viral and became an internet sensation.
A source told People, “They both have busy schedules but make time for each other and have a really strong connection. Katy didn’t expect to fall for somebody so soon, but Justin checks all the boxes. He has a great sense of humor, he’s charming, and he treats her with respect.”
Before the pair got together, Perry was engaged to Orlando Bloom. Their split became public knowledge in June when the actor declared he was single and ready to mingle before attending Jeff Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding.
Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023.
