Dolly Parton‘s fans were treating her Hollywood Walk of Fame star like a shrine as they paid tribute to the late country music icon. Many placed flowers, cards, candles, and mementos around the star on the sidewalk for days to pay their respects. However, not everyone was there to express their love for the legendary singer, as Parton’s Walk of Fame star was recently vandalized with scratches across her name.

One of Parton’s fans noticed the damaged star and reported it on social media. The fan noted that someone knocked over a candle left at the site and used the broken pieces of glass to scratch it. According to Page Six, the post caught the attention of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, an entity that manages the landmark sidewalk.

Its spokesperson, Ana Martinez, revealed, “A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social media that the star was vandalized with many scratches.” She further confirmed that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce took immediate action to restore Parton’s star. “The flowers had been removed yesterday morning, so the repair was scheduled,” said Martinez.

The spokesperson also revealed that the repair will be completed by Friday and the star will be polished for fans to enjoy. “The repairs are currently being carried out and are done by the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains and repairs the Walk of Fame stars,” she added.

The late singer received her star in 1985 alongside her Rhinestone co-star Sylvester Stallone. During a dual ceremony, Parton and Stallone also posed for an iconic photo beside her star. She was honored for her contributions to the music and entertainment industry. 

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also announced they would be offering flowers to Parton’s star after her demise. Martinez paid her tribute in a statement, which read, “Dolly was a once-in-a-lifetime talent whose music, films, generosity, and unmistakable spirit touched millions around the world. Her loss is immeasurable—not only to her family, friends, and fans, but to the entire world.”

Parton rose through the hardships of life that she and her 11 siblings faced while growing up. With her talent, she made a name in the industry and gave the world some of the most cherished country songs.

According to People, the Jolene crooner passed away on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, broke the news on behalf of her entire family via social media. In the video, he revealed how his late aunt asked him to do the honor years before her passing.

He also noted that Parton not only paved the way for all aspiring singers but also helped her entire family to pursue their dreams. The late singer’s team also reported that Parton was seeking treatment at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, where she took her last breath. At the time, she was surrounded by her loved ones.

Following her passing, Donald Trump also ordered the U.S. flags to be lowered across the country for a week. Several celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, and others, came forward to pay their respects to the legendary singer. Many noted how Parton inspired them to follow their dreams and even changed their perspective on life with her generosity.
