It’s the end of an era for Chris Paul, at least with the Los Angeles Clippers it is. The team released the 12-time NBA All-Star with a surprising overnight announcement on Dec. 3.

Perhaps no one was more shocked than Paul, who took to his Instagram Story just before 3 a.m. and shared that he was just told to go back home to LA from Atlanta, where the Clippers were in town to play the Hawks.

Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank then put out a statement to ESPN confirming that news.

“We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team,” the statement read. “We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

The news comes just two weeks after Chris announced that this season would be the last of his storied career. Following his retirement news, Chris’ wife, Jada, took to Instagram with a message for him, writing, “Helluva career! Helluva ride! So proud of you.”

Now, it remains to be seen if Chris will land with another NBA team or hang it up now and cap off his 21-year career. While fans wait to find out, we’re sharing what we know about Chris’ wife and their children.

Chris and Jada have been together since they were teenagers

Chris Paul and then-Jada Crawley first met when they were teenagers.

“We met in high school,” Jada explained at the 2014 BET Awards. “I’m a year older than him … in high school it wasn’t cool to be a senior dating a junior.” Chris then added, “We went to rival high schools [and] we had a mutual friend. I asked her friend if she’d introduce me, so here we are.”

The two then went to Wake Forest University together and after dating for several years, they were married on Sept. 10, 2011, in North Carolina.

Today, Jada and Chris have two children together. Thier son Chris Jr. was born in 2009, and they welcomed their daughter, Camryn, three years later.

Jada is a wife, a mother, and the co-founder the Chris Paul Family Foundation. In partnership with The Winston-Salem Foundation, the organization “strives to positively impact individuals and families by leveling the playing field in Education, Sports and Life. The foundation provides resources that enrich and strengthen healthy development of strong communities.”

The couple made headlines a few years back for reasons that didn’t have to do with sports

Chris is very protective of his family and made that crystal clear in 2022 when a fan at one of his games put their hands on Jada.

During Game 4 of the 2022 Western Conference semifinals, one spectator was ejected after a physical incident in which the fan put their hands on Chris’ mother and pushed Jada, in front of her children. The fan was subsequently removed from the game, and Chris took to social media that same night, writing, “Wanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our families….f*** that!!”

A few months later, Chris’ name was dragged in the news for something that had absolutely nothing to do with basketball, courtesy of a Kanye West rant.

During one of his infamous social media rants, West claimed that Chris had an affair with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

A source close to Kardashian quickly responded by firing back at West, saying, “This is not true, and sadly it’s an ongoing pattern with Kanye — attacking Kim to redirect everyone’s attention after a day of crazy antics where he has said every hateful and offensive thing he can possibly dream of … He has a history of falsely accusing her of also having affairs with Meek Mill, Drake and countless others.”

Chris and Jada never addressed or even acknowledged West’s outrageous claim.
