NBC Considering Iconic ‘The Traitors’ Duo To Replace Kelly Clarkson’s Talk Show
The Kelly Clarkson Show is in its final season. Still, it doesn’t seem like NBC is interested in giving up on having a daytime talk show. Even after announcing the planned final season, the network never suggested they were giving up the format. In recent weeks, there has been plenty of chatter about replacing the “Because of You” songstress with another pop star or TV personality. The latest rumors suggest the network could be eyeing the dynamic duo, Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir, as co-hosts.
NBC is allegedly eying Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir to take over for Kelly Clarkson
The Traitors fans might get to see even more of their favorite duo. As the end of Kelly Clarkson’s run on NBC nears, rumors are swirling about who NBC will tap to take her place. Pink recently shut down rumors about herself. One of those rumors pertained to the talk show. She made it clear she was not auditioning to replace Kelly Clarkson when she appeared as a guest host. Hoda Kotb’s name was bandied about after she left Today, too. Now, new contenders for the role have emerged.
Recent reports suggest NBC is considering Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir as potential cohosts, given their popularity on The Traitors and as Olympic commentators. The duo, who were friends before teaming up to commentate, have a long history with NBC. They are also well-liked by TV viewers. USA Today notes that the pair has contributed a great deal to the network’s Olympic coverage.
Given their witty commentary and undeniable chemistry, they feel like a natural fit for a daytime talk show. Still, NBC has not made any announcements. It could be months before we learn who has officially been tapped to fill Clarkson’s shoes.
Why is Kelly Clarkson leaving her daytime talk show?
Kelly Clarkson is opting to step away from The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons to better accommodate the needs of her family. The iconic pop star made the decision after her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, died last year. His death, at age 48 from melanoma, shocked followers. While the illness was kept quiet, it had been a years-long battle for the talent manager.
Clarkson stepped away from her talk show and live performances a few times in the last couple of years, citing personal issues. As it turned out, Clarkson was providing emotional support for the children she shared with Blackstock. Now that he has died, the end of her show will allow her to realign her priorities and focus on her family.
Clarkson’s children, River and Remington, are 12 and 10. She has been living in New York City with her children since 2023, when production of The Kelly Clarkson Show moved there. It is unclear whether she plans to stay put or move to a quieter location now that she’s no longer tied to filming. Clarkson has lived in multiple states, though she seems to feel most connected to Montana.
