NeNe Leakes Is Coming Back to Bravo: Revisit Her Best Moments on ‘RHOA’
It’s been several years since NeNe Leakes left RHOA, and she recently announced that she will be returning to Bravo for Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Leakes will meet with a cast of road-tripping Housewives when they arrive in Atlanta. Leakes said she is thrilled to rejoin the franchise. To celebrate her return to our screens, here are some of her best moments during her time on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
She dodged flirting and accepted a Rolex during Season 4
In one endlessly quotable scene from Season 4 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Leakes got lunch with her business partner, John. At the time, she was temporarily separated from her husband, Gregg Leakes, and John seemed hopeful to start something with her.
After some (one-sided) flirting, John announced that he purchased a $30,000 Rolex for Leakes. He explained that a Rolex is “timeless,” and she responded with, “OK … Whatever that means.” In a confessional, Leaks said that while “it’s getting weird,” she still wanted the watch.
“Bling bling bling, b****es is mad,” she said while showing off her new watch.
NeNe Leakes’ horrified reaction to Kenya Moore’s home in ‘RHOA’ Season 6
During Season 6, Leakes visited castmate Kenya Moore at her temporary residence. As she exited her car, Leakes uttered the now-famous line, “Whew, chile, the ghetto.” Moore’s home only further appalled her.
“I was shocked, honey,” she said in a confessional. “I was in tears, almost.”
Moore’s white refrigerator stood out as the biggest horror for Leakes.
“And they had a white refrigerator,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, not a white refrigerator. Girl, please put your shoes on. Let’s go find you a home, honey.’”
During the visit, she told Moore that she’d called her realtor, and joked that she had a “helicopter on the roof to take us up out of this camp.”
NeNe Leakes used Kenya Moore’s words against her during the ‘RHOA’ Season 6 reunion
During the Season 6 reunion, Moore accused Leakes of being “very rude” to her boyfriend. Leakes denied this. After she explained her version of events to Andy Cohen, Moore jumped in to say Leakes had been “so nasty and so rude.”
As Moore continued to talk, Leakes repeated “so nasty and so rude” several times and winked. The audio of this moment has frequently made the rounds on social media in the years since.
NeNe Leakes denied flirting with Peter Thomas during the ‘RHOA’ Season 7 reunion
In the Season 7 reunion, Moore and Leakes clashed again. Moore accused Leakes of flirting with Peter Thomas, cast member Cynthia Bailey’s husband. Leakes vehemently denied this. In her denial, she pulled Phaedra Parks into the drama.
“I have never, ever flirted. Ever,” she told Moore, adding, “This ain’t Phaedra.”
Leakes repeated the line several times before adding that while she didn’t want to hear any disrespect of her marriage, Moore was welcome to disrespect Parks and her husband, Apollo. Parks was sitting next to her throughout the outburst.
NeNe Leakes confronted Michael Lohan on ‘RHOA’ Season 2
Early in Leakes’ time on the show, she had a memorable clash with Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael. Leakes and Shereé Whitfield planned to meet with Kim Zolciak-Biermann. When she arrived, she had Lindsay Lohan’s father in tow.
When things grow heated between the women outside the restaurant, Whitfield tugged on Zolciak-Biermann’s wig, prompting her to leave. Leakes attempts to stop her.
“Hey, Mr. Lindsay Lohan’s Daddy,” she called. “You hold on one second.”
When he told Leakes that he didn’t want her and Zolciak-Biermann to fight, she responded by telling him to “take your a** back to Malibu.”
NeNe Leakes hit Marlo Hampton with an effortless one-liner on ‘RHOA’ Season 10
In the show’s tenth season, the cast took a trip to San Francisco. On a trolley ride, friend of the show Marlo Hampton told the other women that Porsha Williams seems upset because the other women aren’t talking to her. Leakes stopped the light critique in its tracks.
“OK, now wait just one second, glasses,” she told Hampton.
Her observational humor was both direct and cutting.
Her reaction to Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s performance has become the subject of many memes
In the third season of RHOA, Zolciak-Biermann recorded the song “The Ring Didn’t Mean a Thing.” Leakes was visibly unimpressed when she played it for women.
“Lord, have mercy,” she said in a confessional. “Kim thinks she is a real pop star. OK. Really, Kim.”
Leakes’ reaction to a performance of the song has gone down in social media history. It still circulates in memes over a decade after it aired.
