NeNe Leakes broke fans’ hearts in 2020 when she announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. While Leakes had stepped away from the series before, her 2020 announcement felt more permanent.  A 2022 lawsuit seemed to seal the deal that she would never return to Bravo again. It is apparently important to never say never when it comes to Bravo, though. Rumors are swirling that Leakes is set to make her triumphant return. Insiders claim she is in talks to rejoin the network.

NeNe Leakes is rumored to be returning to Bravo for a side project

You could be taking a road trip with NeNe Leakes sooner rather than later. While the beloved Bavo icon left the network years ago, insiders claim she is currently in talks to return. According to Page Six, Leakes is in talks to join the cast of The Real Housewives: Ultimate Road Trip, a reboot of The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip.  It is unclear how far along in the negotiation process Lekaes is, but Bravo will need to seal the deal sooner rather than later. The series is set to begin filming in January 2026.

Andy Cohen announced the new spinoff during BravoCon last month. It is an attempt to recapture the magic of Ultimate Girls Trip before it was scrapped after Caroline Manzo accused Brandi Glanville of sexual assault while in Morocco for filming. That season has never aired, though Andy Cohen would like fans to see the footage.

Why did NeNe Leakes leave Bravo?

NeNe Leakes left Bravo, seemingly for good, in 2020. At the time, she took to YouTube to announce she would not return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Leakes initially suggested her departure was purely a business decision, noting that contract negotiations had broken down. She said she made the decision to walk away when her compensation demands were not met.

A couple of years later, it became clear that there was more to the story. Leakes filed a lawsuit against the network, accusing the network of fostering a hostile and toxic work environment. She separately accused the network of forcing her out of her job.  While the lawsuit remained open for some time, Leakes eventually voluntarily dismissed the case. The softening of her legal stance against the network, coupled with executives’ claims that the door is open to her, has further fueled rumors that a return is imminent. The odds look good.
