New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was recently charged with assault. His former chef accused him of becoming violent with her over a pay dispute. While NFL players can face suspension over felony charges or crimes of violence, Diggs is still able to play. The Patriots have said that they are continuing to support Diggs ahead of his arraignment.

Diggs currently faces felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges following an alleged altercation with his former chef.

“She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face,” reads the police report, per Boston 25 News. “She said that she tried to push him away. The male then tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck. She said that he was behind her with his arm wrapped around her. She said that she did feel like she had trouble breathing and that she felt like she could have blacked out.”
