When Daniel Jones took over for Eli Manning in 2019, the New York Giants thought they found their next franchise quarterback. But it didn’t turn out that way. In 2024, Jones actually requested to be released by the team mid-season. Tommy DeVito then took over the reins, but with less-than-stellar performances, he was eventually waived.

In the 2025 offseason, the Giants announced that quarterback Russell Wilson had signed a one-year deal to line up under center. After Wilson’s stints with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, fans were aware that they weren’t getting the Super-Bowl-winning, signal-caller-for-the-Seattle-Seahawks version of Russell Wilson. However, they were still getting future-Hall-of-Famer Russell Wilson so there weren’t too many complaints, and then the season started.

It didn’t go the way anyone wanted with a 0-3 start, so by Week 4, head coach Brian Daboll benched the veteran for rookie Jaxson Dart. While Dart still has a lot to learn, the young quarterback provided a jolt the team needed, and now many are excited to see what the future holds with him at the helm. Fans have also welcomed his mother, Kara, with open arms.

Here’s more about Jaxson’s family and why Kara’s been going viral.

Who are Jaxson Dart’s parents?

Jaxson Dart was born in Kaysville, Utah, on May 13, 2003, to Brandon and Kara Dart, who are Utah natives themselves and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple has one other son, Diesel, and two daughters.

Athletics certainly run in the Dart family. Diesel currently plays high school football, and growing up Brandon played football, basketball, baseball, and was on the track team while Kara ran track, played volleyball, and was a two-time all-state basketball player.

These days, Brandon is the owner of Dartco Masonry per his LinkedIn, and Kara is a fitness instructer and an active runner who has participated in several marathons across the country.

Yahoo! Sports noted that in 2019, she had to miss the Boston Marathon due to an injury.

She took to Instagram explaining, “I realized my injury was quite severe, had major foot and ankle surgery, and now I am 16 days post-surgery with a hard cast. I have been ‘running’ to some degree for as long as I can remember. Sprinting, flipping, jumping, and then gradually transitioning into distance running. Obviously, Boston is out for me this year.”

Jaxson’s mom has gone viral a couple times since he’s been drafted

Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, Jaxson talked to GQ Sports about his sense of style and says he gets that from his mother.

“My mom’s into it, and she’s done a great job of letting me choose and find things that I like and just giving me options,” Dart told the publication. “At the same time, it’s just something that I’ve come to really love and to express myself in different ways.”

The first time many Giants fans got to see Kara’s style is when Jaxson was drafted with the team’s 25th pick as she was right by her son’s side to share in the special moment.

Then in September, TV cameras captured Kara and showed her on the broadcast several times during the Giants games against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Some viewers joked about the number of times she was on screen, writing, “They’ve shown Jaxson Dart’s mom 500 times in this game.”

While others had no priblem with it, posting “Please CBS keep it up with the shots to Jaxson Dart’s mom” and “It’s time for a new hot mom to burst onto the scene.”

Less than two weeks later, Kara went viral again for her style decked out in a custom Giants outfit during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fans are hoping to see plenty more of Kara’s custom looks throughout the season.
