Nicki Minaj Fans Are ‘Really Sad’ About Her Recent Appearance at AmericaFest
In a move that has come as a major surprise to many fans, Nicki Minaj spoke at AmericaFest, a conference that features conservative speakers. In recent weeks, Minaj has expressed her support for Donald Trump, but her presence at the conference has still shocked and disappointed many fans. Here’s what people have said about the rapper’s conversation with Erika Kirk.
Nicki Minaj recently spoke at AmericaFest
On Sunday, Minaj made a surprise appearance at AmericaFest. She has recently aligned herself with the Trump administration following a speech she gave about Christians in Nigeria. She has since interacted with posts from the White House on social media and thrown her support behind the president. At AmericaFest, she joined Kirk onstage.
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” she said at the event. “I don’t even know if he knows this, but he has given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact.”
Minaj said she admires the president for having “been through every single thing a person can be through publicly – having to constantly be lied [about].”
Nicki Minaj fans have expressed disappointment in her appearance at AmericaFest
While Minaj has a highly dedicated fan base, many people have expressed frustration with her pivot to right-wing politics.
“Remember when she just paid fans’ college tuitions and had to fight off ghost writer allegations?” asked one Reddit user. “Those were the days.”
“This can’t be the same Nicki that had the best verse in Monster,” wrote another person.
A number of people felt that Minaj was damaging her legacy as a rapper.
“The downfall of Nicki needs to be studied,” wrote one person. “She really could have stepped back and solidified her spot as best female rapper of all time but she just couldn’t step out of the spotlight. Pathetic.”
“It’s really sad to watch her go out like this,” added another Reddit user.
Others wondered if Minaj’s appearance at the conference was out of a desire for money or attention. Minaj could soon be forced to sell her $20 million mansion so a security guard can collect on a $500,000 judgment against her.
“What an unusual way to tell us your career is over and you desperately need money,” wrote one person.
Minaj has continued to share photos from the event on her social media accounts.
She previously criticized Donald Trump
In years past, Minaj has been far more critical of Trump than she is today. In 2015, she said that while she found him entertaining, she thought of him as “childish.”
“There are points he has made that may not have been so horrible if his approach wasn’t so childish,” she told Billboard. “But in terms of entertainment — I think he’s hilarious. I wish they could just film him running for president. That’s the ultimate reality show.”
During Trump’s first term, Minaj was heavily critical of his immigration policies and said she wasn’t going to “jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon.”
“I’m not gonna jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon,” she told Rolling Stone in 2020. “I don’t like that. I get that a lot of people don’t like him for obvious reasons. But, what stuck with me was the children being taken away from their parents when they came into this country. That really bothered me because I was one of those immigrant children coming to America to flee poverty.”
Given recent events, it’s clear her opinion has changed.
