Nicole Kidman Is ‘Performing Stability’ in 1st Outing Since Filing for Divorce, Says Body Language Expert
Less than a week after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman stepped out at Paris Fashion Week with her daughters. News of the longtime couple’s split shocked their fans, and rumors have flown about the reason for their divorce. While neither party has gone into great detail publicly, Kidman sent a clear message at Fashion Week, said a body language expert.
Nicole Kidman appeared calm in her first public outing since filing for divorce
On Oct. 6, Kidman attended the Chanel Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show at Paris Fashion Week. Her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, were by her side. Body language expert Joanne Pearson from British Lie Detector Test UK said Kidman handled herself in a way that “spoke volumes without saying a word.”
“Nicole’s entire presentation was a masterclass in composed confidence,” Pearson tells Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an emailed statement. “From the upright posture to her measured smile, everything suggested emotional control rather than fragility. She’s clearly choosing to show resilience, not heartbreak.”
Kidman and her daughters held hands as they posed for photographs, presenting a united front.
“Holding her daughters’ hands isn’t just maternal — it’s a protective, grounding move,” Pearson said. “It visually communicates unity and reassurance. After a separation, that kind of physical closeness signals, ‘we’re a team; we’re solid.’”
Kidman appeared powerful and didn’t seem to be putting on too overt a display of happiness.
“There’s no over-smiling, no exaggerated gestures, and no signs of defensiveness like crossed arms or clenched hands,” Pearson said. “Her stillness is powerful. It says, ‘I’m here, I’m fine, and I don’t owe anyone an explanation.’”
Pearson believes this is the strongest statement Kidman could make without having to say a word.
“She’s not performing sorrow; she’s performing stability,” Pearson concluded. “It’s a reminder that sometimes the quietest signals are the strongest.”
She admitted she was nervous
While Kidman appeared calm and in control, she said she felt nervous about making a public appearance.
“I’m just very nervous, actually,” Nicole told Vogue while getting ready for the event. “I have my daughters coming with me. But I’m very excited for Matthieu [Blazy] because this is a big moment for him.”
Kidman is an ambassador for Chanel. While she felt a bit nervous, she also looked forward to her partnership with the brand. Blazy made his debut as the creative director of the brand at the show.
“To be able to celebrate him with his first show with Chanel, and the beginning of an incredible journey together, it’s exciting, right?” she wrote.
Sources claim Keith Urban is having a midlife crisis amid Nicole Kidman divorce
According to initial reports, Urban wanted the divorce, not Kidman. His inner circle reportedly believes he is suffering a “midlife crisis” (per Page Six). While many say the divorce didn’t come as a surprise, as the couple has been living apart since the beginning of summer, they still view it as “the latest in a string of confusing choices.”
Urban and Kidman married in 2006. They share two children.
