Here’s Why Nikki Glaser Won’t Joke About Ozempic or Plastic Surgery at the Golden Globes
On Sunday, Nikki Glaser will host the Golden Globes for the second year in a row. In the lead-up to the ceremony, Glaser has been planning jokes about the attendees. She noted that people shouldn’t expect to hear any jokes about Julia Roberts, as people don’t tend to react well to them. She also explained that she will not be cracking jokes about Ozempic or plastic surgery this year. Here’s why.
Nikki Glaser said she’s not interested in certain types of jokes at the Golden Globes
At last year’s Golden Globes, Glaser joked that the ceremony was “Ozempic’s biggest night.” This year, she said she doesn’t have any interest in joking about the GLP-1.
“Ozempic’s been done,” she told USA Today. “Some jokes there’s just not a unique way to do them anymore.”
She also won’t joke about plastic surgery. Glaser noted that cosmetic surgery is so pervasive in Hollywood that she feels as though she’d be body shaming to poke fun at it.
“Going back to the ’50s and ’60s, you could make fun of people getting facelifts,” she said. “Now it’s just so ubiquitous and normalized that it seems like I’m coming for everyone. It feels like almost body shaming.”
Her team of writers also pushed back at her attempt to write a joke about facelifts.
“I’m like: ‘But I’m going to get a facelift. I’m on the right side of this. Is there a way to spin it that I ask for advice?’” she said. “It’s too convoluted. I just can’t make fun of face work anymore.”
The Golden Globes will air live on CBS on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET. It will also stream on Paramount+ Premium.
