John Corbett has appeared in dozens of TV and movie projects, but for Sex and the City fans, he’ll aways be Aidan Shaw. Aidan was one of Carrie Bradshaw’s “big loves.” While we don’t disagree that Aidan was important to Carrie’s story, he ultimately was not the man for her. Months after the finale of And Just Like That… John Corbett revealed that he agrees that Carrie and Aidan were not meant to be.

John Corbett doesn’t think Aidan Shaw was the man for Carrie Bradshaw

In October, after the divisive run of And Just Like That… ended, John Corbett reflected on his beloved character. He opened up about whether or not he believed Aidan and Carrie were an endgame couple. Corbett told the New York Post that he believes Carrie and Aidan faced the same troubles they faced 25 years earlier.

He contends that while the pair “gave it a shot,” there is probably someone better suited for Carrie Bradshaw than Aidan Shaw. During their first and second shots at a relationship, that “other man” was clearly Mr. Big. During the run of And Just Like That… Carrie had not completely processed the loss of Mr. Big before running back into Aidan’s arms. She never really dated around to see if there was someone better suited to her lifestyle than Aidan. That fact remains one of the major gripes fans had with the series.

He’s not totally in agreement with ‘Sex and the City’ fans, though

John Corbett clearly agrees with fans on whether Aidan and Carrie made sense as a couple. While he clearly loved their love story, he agrees that they were never supposed to be an endgame couple. Corbett differs from fans in one major way, though.

During the course of the conversation, Corbett revealed that he was ultimately happy with how his character’s storyline played out. The famed actor told the New York Post that he supported how the show handled Aidan’s story and the end of his romance with Carrie. Most fans can’t get on board with what amounted to a character assassination, though. While Aidan was never right for Carrie, the way his character behaved during And Just Like That… felt needlessly aggressive and frankly, off-brand.
