Britney Spears has fans and followers feeling a little on edge today. The 43-year-old rather suddenly deleted her Instagram account and has gone completely offline, which has led to concern over her mental state. Spear has been posting to the platform fairly regularly for the last several months, but it seems he changed things up after Kevin Federline released an explosive memoir about his time married to Spears.
The deactivation of her Instagram account on November 2 is only the latest in a long line of troubling behaviors from Britney Spears in recent weeks. Last month, she appeared on Instagram looking battered and bruised, claiming she had fallen down the stairs. She also took to the platform to claim she had suffered “brain damage” while under a conservatorship. A few months ago, she made comments, implying her relationship with Sam Asghari was fake. She dated Asghari for several years before marrying him in 2022. 14 months later, they split. He has made it clear that the marriage was very real to him.
She’s deleted her account multiple times in the past
While Britney Spears’ decision to delete her Instagram profile has sounded alarm bells for some fans and onlookers, it’s actually not the first time the pop star has walked away from the social media platform in dramatic fashion. She’s deleted her profile at least three times in recent history. In 2023, she briefly deleted her profile after strange posts led to several followers calling for welfare checks on the “Lucky” singer.
The following year, she deleted her account in dramatic fashion, too. According to Hola! USA, Spears deleted her account in April 2024 after posting “My family hurt me!!! There has been no justice and probably never will be!!!” She returned a short time later, and fans attributed the odd message and deletion to a stress response related to her legal troubles with her father, Jamie Spears. Spears and her father were locked in a legal battle over lawyer fees at the time.
Earlier this year, she deleted her account again. According to several sources, Spears briefly left Instagram in June 2025. In June, Spears posted a video discussing her exes. She had nothing nice to say and then quickly deleted her account. The video, which felt somewhat disconnected and odd, made headlines, likely prompting Spears to abandon the platform.
Each time she deletes Instagram, she returns and carries on as if she hadn’t just walked off. There are never explanation posts, nor does she even acknowledge that she left and has returned. While it’s unclear exactly what prompted her latest decision to delete her profile, fans do hope she is OK and just taking a break.
