D4vd Is Set to Take the Stage for his International Tour, but Police in Hollywood Just Found a Body in His Trunk
A 20-year-old R&B and hip-hop artist who rose to fame on TikTok has found himself at the center of a death investigation, just days before he was set to depart on the international leg of his tour. D4vd is currently touring for his Withered World Tour. A mutilated body found in the trunk of a vehicle registered to him could change that very quickly. Here is everything we currently know.
A body has been found in the trunk of a car registered to D4vd
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department walked in on a gruesome scene on Sept. 8 after receiving a call to an impound yard. Officers were asked to investigate a smell emanating from a 2023 Tesla that had been impounded several days earlier.
According to People, officers investigating the smell discovered a body inside the front trunk of the vehicle. The body, which was heavily decomposed, is said to have been wrapped in a plastic bag and may have been dismembered. The identity of the victim remains unknown. The police were able to track the vehicle back to D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, through its registration. The car is registered to the artist at his address in Hempstead, Texas. The 20-year-old was born in New York but was raised in the Houston area.
It is unclear how or when the car arrived in Los Angeles. Still, according to several sources, it was impounded on or around September 3 after being reported as an abandoned vehicle. It was towed from the Hollywood Hills neighborhood. d4vd was active on X (formerly Twitter) as of September 7. He has gone quiet since. Police have not revealed whether they’ve been in contact with the vehicle’s owner.
While Teslas are generally equipped with cabin cameras as well as dash cams, video is generally not saved long-term. Figuring out when the car arrived in Los Angeles might help the LAPD develop a timeline, though.
Has D4vd canceled his tour following the discovery?
While it’s entirely unclear what, if anything, D4vd has to do with the body found inside the vehicle registered in his name, it certainly appears to be a serious problem. As police are investigating, he’s keeping quiet, leaving fans in the dark about his planned tour dates, including one set for this evening.
D4vd was set to perform in Minneapolis this evening as one of just a handful of concerts left in the North American leg of his tour. While he has yet to comment on the investigation or tonight’s show, insiders assume it will most likely be canceled. He is scheduled to embark on international tour dates beginning in October after a stop in Los Angeles in late September, with his first stop in Norway on October 1. It’s unclear if the tour will be impacted by the police investigation.
This is a developing story.
