Jennifer Lawrence made her Instagram debut and welcomed her fans in her own way. The actress’ social media launch came after years of fans asking when she would join the platform. However, the Hunger Games star had a warning for her followers. She warned them that any negative comment could prompt her to leave the platform. 

Lawrence used the username @jlaw on Instagram. She gained one million followers within two hours of her debut. The actress soon shared a message with her fans, warning them against negative comments.

According to the Mirror, the Red Sparrow star said, “So yeah, I’m giving [Instagram] a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit. Immediately. No questions asked.” The 36-year-old remained makeup-free in the video and wore her hair down while recording. “If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know—I’ll know, and I’ll quit,” she further stated.

JLaw also took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight. While she refused to join social media for years, when she did, she warned her followers that she is a “baby.” The actress wrote, “Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby.” “It’s me. I’m the baby,” she jokingly clarified.

Her friends and fans rushed to the comment section to shower her with love. An Instagram user wrote, “I’m ready to go to war if someone doesn’t respect my queen,” while another fan noted, “Everyone needs to be on their best behavior!!!” 

Several others mentioned how much they wanted Lawrence to join social media. One of them wrote, “Girl, we’ve been waiting 15 years for this,” while another fan shared, “I never thought this moment would come.” A few also joked, saying, “Wait, you look so much like Jennifer Lawrence.”

The Passengers star had previously avoided having a public social media account. She shared the reason, saying, “I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak,” in 2018. Lawrence mentioned the same issue that she addressed in her first IG video. She said, “There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything.”

She clarified that she does not wish to welcome unnecessary backlash and join social media unless she is absolutely required to. “I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason,” the actress said. However, she shared that she was open to the possibility if she had to promote something. 

Lawrence has a number of projects in the pipeline. She will reprise her role as Katniss in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The screenplay is based on Suzanne Collins’ book of the same name. 

She will also join hands with Martin Scorsese for the psychological thriller What Happens at Night. The movie will mark her second outing with Leonardo DiCaprio after their 2021 movie Don’t Look Up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence is also set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy, One Month Mark. Besides starring in the movie, she will also serve as its producer. Meanwhile, it is unclear why Lawrence joined Instagram, as she did not state a specific reason.
