Offset Shot at an Infamous Florida Casino
Offset is recovering from a pretty scary moment in Florida; the rapper was shot in the early evening hours of April 6. While his injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, the incident is a terrifying reminder of the 2022 incident involving his cousin and bandmate, Takeoff. Here’s everything we know so far.
Offset shot in Florida
Offset was shot on April 6 while standing outside the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. While details remain murky, the incident allegedly occurred in the Valet area outside the hotel. Offset gave no indication that anything was wrong before the shooting, even posing for photos with fans and chatting with other casino patrons.
It is unclear what led to the shooting, but reports indicate it was contained quickly. TMZ spoke with a representative who told the outlet that one individual, later confirmed to be Offset, was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood after a shooting outside of the facility around 7 pm. Two suspects were detained shortly after the gunfire broke out, and police confirmed there was no ongoing threat. Offset’s injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, though he was hospitalized. No motive was released, but the casino continued operating, as usual, after the investigation was completed.
The Casino might sound familiar to some. It has a long and illustrious history of serving celebrities, though it has also been the scene of one major Hollywood tragedy. It was the scene of Anna Nicole Smith’s 2007 death. Her death was caused by an accidental drug overdose.
Offset’s shooting is the second shooting involving members of Migos
Offset’s shooting is considered another close call for Migos. The group, consisting of Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff, suffered a massive tragedy in 2022 when Takeoff was shot and killed in a Houston bowling alley. The rapper was at the alley for a private party when an arguement broke out over a dice game. Guns were drawn, and at least two individuals began shooting. According to WSAW-TV, Takeoff was not involved in the disagreement and was likely struck by a stray bullet.
At the time, Offset described the death of his bandmate and cousin as a “nightmare.” Quavo was present at the shooting, but Offset, who had recently spun off from the group, was not. The group officially disbanded after the tragic death. Takeoff was 28.
