Chance the Rapper first gained recognition in 2012 with his debut mixtape 10 Day, which he began recording during a 10-day suspension from high school for smoking weed. He has since become an important figure in hip-hop with his unique storytelling and sending positive messages through his songs.

At the peak of his career, Chance the Rapper was one of the highest-paid rap artists in the world. So what is his net worth today? Here’s the answer to that, plus how old he is and how many children he has.

Chance the Rapper’s age and net worth

Chance the Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, was born on April 16, 1993, in Chicago, to parents Lisa and Ken Williams-Bennett. His father worked as an aide for Barack Obama when he was a senator.

The 44th President of the United States confirmed the connection in an interview with SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, saying: “Chance, I’ve known for years ’cause his dad was my state director when I was a senator in Illinois, so I first met Chance when he was 8 years old, and so we’ve been family for a while.”

However, Chance wasn’t interested in politics growing up. He took an interest in music at an early age and started listening to and mimicking Michael Jackson in grade school.

Chance has released two albums The Big Day and Star Line, as well as several mixtapes. He won three Grammys for his 2017 mixtape Coloring Book, which features gospel-infused rap. He is a practicing Christian and mentions Jesus Christ in many of his songs. Chance is known as a famously independent artist who built a massive career without signing to a major record label. He’s relied instead on streaming platforms, live performances, and brand partnerships.

In 2017, he told Vanity Fair, “I never wanted to sell my music because I thought putting a price on it put a limit on it and inhibited me from making a connection. I make money from touring and selling merchandise, and I honestly believe if you put effort into something, and you execute properly, you don’t necessarily have to go through the traditional ways.”

Over the years, the musician has had endorsement deals with some top brands, including Apple, Nike, and Nestle. Chance also designed hats for the Chicago White Sox baseball team, and his “Chance 3” hats became a significant income stream. Today, he has an estimated net worth of $25 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Chance’s divorce and how many children he has

Chance the Rapper has two children. Their mother is Kirsten Corley.

She and the hip-hop artist began dating in 2013. They welcomed their first child, Kensi, in 2015 but split the following year. The two later reconciled before welcoming Marli in 2019.

Chance and Corley tied the knot on March 9, 2019, at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California. They separated in April 2024, and their divorce was finalized in 2025.
