Bryan Sosoo made his Olympic debut with the U.S. Men’s bobsledding team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, which is pretty remarkable considering that he was only introduced to the sport in 2024.

Sosoo was a track and field star in college and ran track professionally with the Central Park Track Club in New York City. In August 2024, he was approached by the CEO of the Team USA bobsled team, who asked the athlete if he would like to give bobsledding a try.

“I’m the kind of person that always takes opportunities,” Sosoo told Patch.com. “I gravitated towards it pretty quickly, honestly. It required me to step out of my comfort zone. If you say ‘no’ to something, you may never get that chance again. If I said ‘no,’ I would not be in the position I am today.” He is currently a brakeman pushing “a 400-pound sled on the ice for 40-55 meters as hard and fast we can, and then get into the sled as fast as we can.”

Now, with all eyes on the Olympic Games, fans want to know more about Sosoo and his wife, Megan Gambuti.

Sosoo was born on Dec. 2, 1996, to parents Barbara and Martin in Accra, Ghana. His family moved to the U.S. and he was raised in Laurel, Maryland. He attended Reservoir High School and became the Maryland state champ in the 55-meter dash and triple jump. After high school, Sosoo enrolled in Monmouth University, where he set the school record and won three conference titles in the 60-meter. After he graduated, Sosoo continued his track and field career and competed internationally for Ghana until 2024, when he switched to bobsledding.

When comparing bobsledding to running track, Sosoo said, “It’s definitely a little more dangerous than track. (Bobsledding) is a very dangerous sport. You have to have that grit. But a lot of bobsledding athletes come from a track & field background. One person on our team is a D-1 swimmer, others come from football. We need the power, the speed, and strength but applied in a different way, which is pushing a bobsled.”

After his debut at IBSF World Cup in the 2025-26 season, Sosoo was named to the Olympic team.

She won the pole vault event at the Moravian Coach P Invitational in 2016 and finished third at the MAAC Championships in 2018.

Today, Sosoo and Gambuti reside in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He earned his MBA at Monmouth and currently works in human resources for the pharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb.
