Kaillie Humphries is a professional bobsledder and one of the most successful in her sport. She represented Team Canada at the 2010, 2014, and 2018 Olympic Winter Games, winning two gold and one bronze medal.

In 2019, Humphries, who had already been living in the U.S. with her husband, Travis Armbruster, switched teams to represent the United States and won the gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics in the first-ever women’s monobob event. She was the first woman in Olympic history to win gold medals for two different countries. Her nine collective gold medals (Olympics and world championships) over her two-decade career make Humphries one of the most decorated women in the sport behind Elana Meyers Taylor.

Now, fans want to know more about the Olympian’s life away from the track. Here’s more on Humphries and her family.

Her husband was also a professional Bobsledder

Humphries’ hubby is a former professional bobsledder who also competed on Team USA.

Armbruster attended Pittsburg State University, where he played football and was a member of the Track and Field team. He earned a degree in Fitness and Kinesiology, and after graduation began working as a personal trainer.

He was recruited onto the USA bobsled team in 2009 and won two medals, including the four-man gold, at the North American Cup in 2010.

When Humphries and Armbruster got married

After dating for years, Armbruster got down on one knee and asked Humphries to marry him in 2018. She happily accepted and shared the news on social media. The two tied the knot in 2019, and two years later, Humphries became a U.S. citizen.

The pair decided that they wanted to start a family, but then Humphries was diagnosed with endometriosis, which can make conception more challenging due to inflammation of scar tissue. So the couple began exploring IVF.

“I definitely had times when I doubted it if ever was going to happen,” Humphries told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “Then there were times I wouldn’t question it, because we knew we were never going to give up until it did.”

How many children they have together

They never did give up, and on June 14, 2014, they became parents to a son named Aulden. After his birth, Humphries gushed about her little one.

“My favorite thing is just his smile, his eyes, they’re so blue,” Humphries said per NBC Sports. “Every time I look at him — I know I’m biased — but I just think he’s the cutest baby in the entire world. I just feel so blessed to be able to be a mom, to have gone through pregnancy, for him to be healthy, me to be healthy.”

She also became emotional when she talked about how grateful she is for Armbruster and all he has given up to support her, sharing, “Travis, thankfully, has given up his career and his goals and dreams to allow me to follow mine, which is super cool and very supportive. So it’s really great because now I get to live out my dream, and Aulden gets to spend time with his dad, and we kind of get to do this whole goal as a family.”
