The Only Way Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Will Leave Royal Lodge Home Is if 2 Outrageous Demands Are Met
Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson’s past behavior and association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has caused headaches for the royal family for years. But when the calls for the disgraced prince to give up his Duke of York title became louder, the message was clear. Something had to be done.
On Oct. 17, 2025, Andrew finally caved and relinquished his remaining titles. He then released a statement that read in part: “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life. With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”
What Andrew and his ex-wife weren’t willing to give up was the massive Royal Lodge residence, located in Windsor Great Park, where they live together. But there is a public outcry for them to leave. That’s something Prince William and some other family members fully support, as the Prince of Wales and King Charles have urged Andrew to leave for quite some time.
Prince Andrew has an iron-clad, 75-year lease agreement that makes evicting him nearly impossible. However, reports allege that Andrew and Sarah will leave on their own if they receive two other royal homes in exchange.
According to The Sun, the king’s brother is demanding that he get Prince Harry and Meghan’s former Frogmore Cottage home, while Sarah gets Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William and Kate are due to exit in the next few weeks.
A friend of Andrew and Sarah said, “No one is really sure how it’s going to go down at the Palace yet. Andy is willing to leave, but these are his demands. He is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall and that his time at Royal Lodge is up. If he must go, then he has asked for Frogmore Cottage.
“Incredibly, Sarah has said she wants Adelaide Cottage. Sarah and Andy have lived together at Royal Lodge since 2008, despite being divorced, and seem like they are still a married couple. It’s incredible that they are willing to go their own separate ways. But it indicates that they have been under immense strain this year and need a break from one another. It’s a fresh start for both.
“Frogmore Cottage is too small for both, and Adelaide Cottage is around the corner, so they will see each other whenever they want. Both have space for their daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, and their families to visit.”
It seems like a head-scratcher to some that Fergie would believe she’s in a position to demand anything, considering that she and Andrew have been divorced since 1996. However, friends of the former duchess have shared that Sarah “feels like she deserves a royal home to see out her years.”
Now, the question is: How will this royal battle shake out?
