Paedon Brown Says Garrison Brown’s Funeral ‘Went the Way it Went’
Sister Wives will return for a 20th season soon. The trailer for the upcoming season, which fans believe will be its last, seems to focus on the Browns finally dismantling the last threads that bound them together as a polygamist family. They will see lots of chatter about Coyote Pass. What they are unlikely to see is any more footage of Garrison Brown’s memorial. Those who follow the family outside of their reality TV show have long suspected something bad happened at the 20-something’s funeral. Mykelti Padron has alluded to it, but hasn’t elaborated, which is typical of her. Most other family members have shied away from questions about it. Now, Paedon Brown is offering just a little insight. His answer won’t do much to put fan speculation to rest, though.
What was Garrison Brown’s cause of death?
Garrison Brown was found dead inside his bedroom in Flagstaff, Arizona, on March 5, 2023. His brother, Gabriel Brown, went to check on him after their mother, Janelle Brown, grew concerned when he stopped responding to messages. According to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s report, Garrison died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The report also lists ethanol intoxication as a contributing factor. Garrison had reportedly been struggling with alcohol abuse, the family later revealed. His blood alcohol content was incredibly high at the time of his death.
In the immediate aftermath of his death, the family gathered in Flagstaff and held a private funeral. Later in March, the United States National Guard honored Garrison with a separate memorial. The Browns later traveled to Wyoming to lay Garrison to rest next to his beloved grandmother. Sister Wives cameras were on hand for the burial. The production team also accidentally captured the moment Meri Brown learned of Garrison’s death.
Paedon Brown sort of addressed what happened at Garrison Brown’s funeral
Paedon Brown has flitted in and out of the spotlight in the years since his family moved to Flagstaff and he was told to stay behind. While he’s not a regular on the show any longer, he does occasionally discuss Sister Wives and his complicated family dynamic on social media. He jumped onto TikTok Live recently to share some insights into his famous family.

During the chat, Paedon revealed that he hadn’t been in contact with his father, Kody Brown, in some time. He noted that the last time he had a physical conversation with the father of 18 was at Garrison Brown’s funeral. Paedon was quick to note that he had no intention of discussing the funeral, but he did say that it went “better” than it could have, although not as well as it should have. He went on to cryptically say it “went how it went.”
Where does Kody Brown stand with his kids now?
Kody Brown has 18 children, but he appears to be in contact with only five of them. While Kody did express some regret about the relationship he had with his children by his first three wives immediately after Garrison’s death and funeral, it does not appear to have spurred much change.

Most of his adult children from his ex-wives, Christine Brown, Meri Brown, and Janelle Brown, have taken a hands-off approach to their father. Maddie Brush, in particular, has taken a stand by keeping her own children away from Kody. According to Janelle, Maddie doesn’t want people who will float in and out of their lives to have access. Kody maintains a relationship with the five children he shares with Robyn, though it is easier to do so. They all still live in the same house in Flagstaff. Most of his other adult children have left the state.
