Paris Fashion Week Was Only the Beginning, Expert Says Meghan Markle Will Attend This Major Event Next
Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance when she attended the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week. But instead of focusing on her two striking looks–a daring black backless dress and a stylish all-white cape ensemble–she received backlash for her decision to attend the show.
Critics slammed the Duchess of Sussex for associating herself with the brand that a few years back was embroiled in controversy for an ad campaign featuring inappropriate images of children.
A spokesperson for Meghan explained that she attended the fashion house’s show to support her friend, new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, saying, “Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.
“She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and [that night] was no different. The evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
Which big events Meghan could attend next
Meghan’s Paris Fashion Week marked her first appearance in a decade. Now, betting experts believe there will be more strategic appearances as the Duchess of Sussex immerses herself into the fashion world. The perfect follow-up events for Prince Harry’s wife to attend after Paris Fashion Week would be London Fashion Week and The Met Gala.
Ollie Ring, spokesman for Casino Beats told Express: “Meghan Markle’s return to Europe has reignited her connection to the fashion world, and traders now see a London Fashion Week comeback as a very real possibility at 2/1.
“There’s also growing confidence she could take control of her own fashion narrative with a personal label — the 6/4 odds reflect genuine momentum behind that idea. Whether it’s the Met Gala, the metaverse, or even hosting her own event, it’s clear Meghan’s influence in the style sphere is only expanding.”
PR expert weighs in on a controversy the duchess ignited while in Paris
Meghan also stirred up some controversy when she posted a video clip on her Instagram Stories of the chauffeur-driven vehicle she was in traveling near the car crash site that killed Princess Diana.
Renae Smith, founder of The Atticism, spoke to Express about Meghan’s decision to do something like that, saying: “Honestly, none of this surprises me anymore. If she was my client today, I would have quit. This is just too much — it shows complete inability to grow as a person. As we know, Meghan has an incredible ability to turn neutral moments into controversy. The video near the tunnel where Diana died was a terrible decision from a PR perspective.
“The Paris appearance could’ve been a subtle realignment moment, controlled visuals, refined styling, maybe a single polished brand partnership. Instead, she leaned into performance. This was yet another missed opportunity to reset her brand through grace and restraint.”
Smith added, “Psychologically, I don’t think it’s arrogance as much as ego blindness. She doesn’t seem to grasp social cues or understand when to step back. From a PR perspective, restraint would be the most powerful rebrand she could do right now. If you ask me, she doesn’t need reinvention as much as she just needs some bloody restraint.”
