Six years into her journey to become a lawyer, Kim Kardashian failed the bar exam. The reality star hopes to pass the notoriously difficult exam without attending law school and has found the process frustrating. After announcing that she did not pass, many people called back to one of her most controversial moments from several years ago.

Kim Kardashian failed the bar exam

Shortly before receiving her bare exam results, a confident Kardashian told Graham Norton that she’d be qualified as a lawyer soon. This month, however, Kardashian announced that she did not pass the bar exam. Obviously, this was not the result she’d been hoping for, and she said the failure stung.

“I don’t really get disappointed, even though I’m bummed that it wasn’t the outcome that I wanted because I did put in the time,” she said, per E! News. “It is frustrating when you try so hard at something and it’s not the result you want.”

Still, she said she will not let the recent setback stop her.

“I’m not someone who will ever give up,” she said. “I always look at things in a timing perspective. That just wasn’t my time. And I’m OK with that. I instantly knew that it’s a bigger lesson and that I just have to do better, try harder, and get back at it.”

People are calling back to a Kim Kardashian quote after she failed the bar exam

Kardashian has not been attending law school, and recently raised eyebrows when she admitted to relying on ChatGPT while studying. Her announcement that she failed the bar exam was met with no small amount of scorn, and many people have called back to one controversial comment from 2022.

“I have the best advice for women in business,” she told Variety. “Get your f***ing a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

Kardashian later apologized and acknowledged that she has been afforded more opportunities than most, but people haven’t forgotten.

“Ain’t she the one who was complaining that people don’t work hard anymore?” asked one Reddit user. “‘No one wants to work these days.’ LMAO.”

“Kim, get your a** up and study,” added another commenter.

People also saw her reliance on ChatGPT as a shortcut to avoid the hard work of studying.

“So Miss ‘No one wants to work these days’ was taking shortcuts,” wrote one person.

A number of people across social media platforms simply posted the “work” quote or video clip on announcements that Kardashian failed the bar. People also expressed their belief that Kardashian should put in the work of getting her degree and attending law school if she wants to be a lawyer. It’s possible to become a lawyer without law school by enrolling in an apprenticeship program.

“If she had just attended college and then law school, she’d probably be done, or close to, while actually having a chance to pass it,” wrote one person. “But that means ‘getting her a** up and actually working,’ which she’s never actually done.”

Why does she hope to be a lawyer?

As Kardashian noted, this is not the end of her journey to becoming a lawyer. Many people have wondered if she actually intends to practice law. Kardashian has confirmed that she does.

“I will be qualified in two weeks,” she said on The Graham Norton Show, ahead of receiving her bar exam results. “I hope to practice law. Maybe in 10 years, I think I’ll give up being Kim K. and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”

Kardashian is following in her father’s footsteps. Robert Kardashian was an attorney and businessman who famously served as O.J. Simpson’s defense attorney.
