Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts’ Rents a $2,000 a Month Apartment and Has a ‘Humble’ Home (See Inside)
Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles know that quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t see the need to live an outlandish and lavish lifestyle just because he can.
Hurts was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. When he first signed with the team, he inked a 4-year, $6 million contract that included a $1.9 million signing bonus and $2.8 million in guaranteed money.
Then in 2023, the athlete signed a massive 5-year, $255 million deal including a $23 million signing bonus and more than $179 million guaranteed. That gives the signal caller an average annual salary of $51 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
But instead of buying a huge mansion in the Philly area, Hurts lives in a modest apartment in a New Jersey suburb just outside the City of Brotherly Love, although he has purchased some properties in his home state of Texas. Here’s a peek inside those digs.
Hurts’ rented apartment in New Jersey and a peek inside his other properties
Hurts’ rented apartment is located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, less than 10 miles outside of Philly.
“I didn’t buy a house or anything like that when I got drafted,” Hurts told AL.com. “I didn’t need this big place just for myself. I just got me a little apartment. You know, something smooth that’ll last me for the time being.”
Hurts is originally from Humble, Texas, and purchased some properties in his home state for his parents. He bought one place in Humble for $215,000. That house is registered under his father’s name, Averion Sr. It’s 2,350 square feet with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a two-car garage. It also has a spacious backyard. Some of the interior has been updated to include granite countertops in the kitchen and stainless steel appliances.
Hurts dropped $500,000 in 2023 on an abode in Houston in his mother Pamela Hurts’ name. It’s a bit larger than the Humble home with 3,000 square feet of living space, four bedrooms, and three bathrooms.
Hurts did go bigger in Texas
They say everything is bigger in Texas, well so is Hurts’ residence there.
It’s been reported that the quarterback did purchase a large property in the Lone Star State just five miles from his childhood home. He dropped $6 million on a 6,000-square-foot 1950s mansion. It features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, has a large swimming pool, and sits on a 10-acre lot.
He also bought the house next door to it as well for an additional $2.68 million. It is not known if Hurts is planning to combine the lots or just wants some extra privacy.
What Hurts splurged on when he got his first paycheck
Some people are curious about what Hurts spent his cash on before he started a real estate portfolio.
Well, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback is a fan of fashion, so he has splurged a bit on that in the past.
Hurts revealed that when he got his first big paycheck, he bought a cheesesteak and then hit up a mall. He said he got some “Philadelphia gear,” which included several bomber jackets. The Philly gear he bought added up to $1000. In addition, he purchased some real jewelry and says all in all, he dropped about $30,000 on his “first year in fashion.”
