When it was announced that King Charles evicted Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from his 30-room mansion in Windsor and sent him to a five-bedroom property more than 100 miles away in Norfolk, it was reported that the Marsh Farm home was undergoing extensive renovations to make it liveable.

While those renovations are completed, Andrew is staying at Wood Farm, which is also on the Sandringham estate. Following his arrest, the ex-prince was told to stay indoors and not venture outside for pastimes like horseback riding on the estate. So while Andrew may not be allowed to physically ride horses at this time, he is having to put up with the smell of the wildlife kept on the estate.

According to The Sun, there have been “tons of the foul-smelling sludge placed by staff working just a stone’s throw away from his Norfolk property.” The publication noted, “Tractors and trailers have hauled huge quantities of muck to a site just over 200 yards behind Marsh Farm, on the countryside estate where Andrew is anticipated to live long term.

“Workers have also been spotted spreading what looks like manure over dozens of newly planted trees in a field just a few yards from Andrew’s front door on Wood Farm, where he’s currently holed up. It is understood a herd of up to 500 cattle are kept at the 20,000-acre Sandringham Estate.”

This has amused some local residents, with one person telling the Daily Mail, “There has been a whiff of scandal around Andrew for a long time, so it is fitting that he should be exposed to the smells of the countryside.” And another added, “The king owns the estate privately and is ultimately responsible for everything that goes on there, so maybe he is trying to tell [Andrew] something.”

Many locals have been fuming since a police presence descended on their neighborhood on Feb. 19 and arrested the disgraced royal.

“If we went back 200 years ago, he’d have been beheaded. It’s an embarrassment to England because this is going to be worldwide,” window company owner Luke Schrier said via The Times.

And bricklayer Jamie Jackson explained that the attitudes among locals towards the royal family differ depending on who you talk to, but no one is in Andrew’s corner, sharing, “My mum and my nan all follow [the royals] — anyone my age (31) doesn’t care. I don’t know anyone that supports him round here.”

Following his brother’s arrest, King Charles released a statement that read, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
