Police Name the Last Person to See Nancy Guthrie Before Her Disappearance
The hunt for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, has entered its third day. While the police in Arizona continue to investigate the octogenarian’s likely abduction, there have been some scary developments. In an attempt to spur more tips, the police are releasing more information, including the identity of the last person to see the elderly Guthrie. The information does little to pinpoint exactly when she went missing, though.
Savannah Guthrie’s sister was the last one to see mom, Nancy, before her disappearance
Nothing about January 31 was out of the ordinary, claims the Guthrie family. Nancy Guthrie joined her daughter for dinner and was even dropped off at home by her without incident. Us Weekly spoke with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos on February 2, and he cleared up some inconsistencies. Nanos revealed that Annie Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s sister, was the last person with Nancy.
According to the sheriff, Annie and Nancy dined together, with Annie dropping her mother off at her home between 9:30 and 9:45 pm on January 31. Everything appeared to be fine, and Annie told the police she did not suspect anything was amiss during the meal or when she brought her mother home.
How did the family know something was wrong?
Annie’s statement pinpoints the last time anyone saw Nancy before her disappearance. Still, it does little to narrow down the window of when she might have been taken from her home. Police are positive the 84-year-old didn’t leave of her own accord. No one knew anything was wrong until around 11 am on February 1.
According to police, the Guthrie family was alerted that something was wrong when Nancy failed to attend Sunday morning religious services. Her absence was odd enough to get paritioners talking, who called the Guthrie family to inquire about Nancy. The police were called just after noon. There are more than 12 hours between the last sighting of the elderly Guthrie and the first indications of trouble.
This is a developing story…
