Pooh Shiesty has run out of luck with federal judges. The Memphis-born rapper is currently sitting in jail after being charged with kidnapping. That is exactly where he will be staying for the foreseeable future. A federal judge just ruled that Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Dennell Williams Jr., poses too much risk to the community to qualify for bail. Here is everything we know so far.

Pooh Shiesty has been denied bail

A federal judge has ruled that Pooh Shiesty poses too great a risk to the community to be allowed to head home while he awaits trial. According to the Associated Press, the Memphis-based rapper was in court on April 7 for a bond hearing. It certainly didn’t go the way he had hoped.

Federal Judge Renee Harris Toliver denied the rapper’s request for bail, noting that Shiesty has a prior history of violent crimes. She also noted he was actually in violation of a home confinement order at the time of the alleged crimes he is now charged with. Judge Toliver went on to argue that the prosecution’s evidence appears strong and that the community would be at risk if Pooh Shiesty were granted bail. She denied the request.

Shiesty’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, tried to argue that the alleged incident was a “he said, she said” situation, and that the case was “unusual” because it took three months for investigators to arrest Shiesty and his associates. Cohen seems to think the evidence isn’t all that damning, though the public will likely have to wait months to learn what it actually is. A trial date has not yet been set.

Everything you need to know about his charges
