Shortly after stepping down from the royal family and moving stateside, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle inked a mega deal with Netflix, reportedly worth around $100 million. However, after delivering just one successful program, the streaming giant decided not to renew the couple’s deal.

The Sussexes’ first series was the documentary titled Harry & Meghan, it became one of the most-watched documentaries on the platform. They followed that up with Live to Lead and Heart of Invictus, which were both flops. In 2024, Prince Harry released his docuseries Polo, which ranked at a disastrous No. 3,436 out of 7,000 shows on the streaming platform. His wife’s lifestyle show, which dropped in March 2025, didn’t pull in stellar numbers either, ranking at No. 383 on the company’s semi-annual report.

Regarding this latest news, at least one PR expert is convinced no one will ever work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex again for one reason.

Why a PR expert says working with Prince Harry and Meghan is bad news

After the news of Meghan and Harry’s lost deal broke, there were rumblings that folks don’t want to be associated with the couple, with insiders claiming: “No one in Hollywood rates them anymore or wants to be around them, especially her. People are bored with them.”

PR expert Renae Smith agrees. Smith, who is the founder of The Atticism, told Express that she wouldn’t advise one person to do any type of dealings with the duo now, saying: “Could they produce something on their own? Sure, they have the money. But will any major platform touch them now? I highly doubt it. They’re starting to feel like damaged goods.”

According to Smith, the main reason no serious person is ever going to want to work with Harry and Meghan again is because everything they are involved in suffers or completely fails.

“It’s the opposite of the Midas touch!” she said. “Everything they touch right now turns to dust. I wouldn’t advise a single client of mine to get involved with them. No way in hell.”

Will any of the Sussexes’ other projects see the light of day?

So what’s the status of the two other projects the couple had in the pipeline with Netflix?

The duke and duchess have two more projects with the streamer that were in the pipeline. One is a film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s romance novel Meet Me at the Lake, and the other is a documentary set in Africa. However, no cast, director, or any other production crew have been hired for either.

A source who spoke to Page Six about this explained: “By this point, you would have thought they would have gotten a director on board and a cast. So, what is the delay? And when you make something for Netflix, it takes a long time for it to actually hit the streamer — there is so much to do in post-production to make sure it’s ready for every country. If the deal is up this year, then when is this film going to be made?”

They added that the projects may never “see the light of day.”
