Since leaving royal life behind and moving to America, one of the things Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tried to portray themselves as is relatable.

Meghan pushed back on comments that she’s “unrelatable” in a 2025 interview with The New York Times. She also tried to appear down-to-earth while cooking and entertaining in her Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan.

The prince, meanwhile, highlighted his relatable experience of being a child of divorced parents with millions of others in the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, saying, “Most kids who are the product of divorced parents have a lot in common, no matter what your background is.”

While having regal titles attached to your name and living in a mansion on seven acres of land in Montecito, California, isn’t exactly relatable to most people, Prince Harry has had some moments as a father that other parents can relate to.

Here are some of the duke’s best dad moments.

The quote every parent utters

Prince Harry and Meghan’s first child, Prince Archie, was born in the U.K. on May 6, 2019.

Shortly after his birth, Archie’s proud papa uttered the phrase every other parent does, saying how “amazing” his child is.

“As every father and parent will ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I’m just over the moon,” Harry gushed.

Celebrating the little moments

Meghan, Harry, and little Archie moved abroad just before the coronavirus (COVID-19) shut down everything and quarantine became a way of life for most people. Family time wasn’t a choice, but it was something people around the world began to really cherish.

The Duke of Sussex talked about relishing all the time with Archie and appreciating it.

“There’s a hell of a lot of positives that are happening at the same time and being able to have family time — so much family time — that you almost think, ‘Do I feel guilty for having so much family time?’” Harry said during a Zoom call with the WellChild charity in April 2020. “You’ve got to celebrate those moments where you are just on the floor rolling around in hysterics. Inevitably, half an hour later, maybe a day later, there’s going to be something that you have to deal with, and there’s no way you can run away from it.”

Teaching a fun activity

All parents can recall teaching their kids a fun activity or something they loved to do when they were a kid, ranging from riding a bike to baking cookies and everything in between.

In Harry’s AppleTV+ series The Me You Can’t See, a brief clip features the duke showing Archie how to swing with him on the fixtures hanging from trees in the yard.

Life with two kids

On June 4, 2021, the couple’s daughter Princess Lilbet was born.

During an event later that month, Harry’s pal, singer Ed Sheeran, commented about the royal being “in the trenches” with a newborn, to which the prince responded, “Two is definitely a juggle.”

Hello Magazine quoted Harry telling another guest that same evening, “We’ve been lucky so far, [Lili] is very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy.”

Wanting the world to be a better place for children

There are so many things parents do every single day to help make the place a better place for the children. One example that’s commonplace in households is something as simple as recycling. Harry, too, wants to help make the planet “better” for his children and has spoken about his passion to do that.

The Duke of Sussex has said many times, “I will never, ever, ever rest until I, as a parent, have tried to make the world a better place for them because it is our responsibility that the world is the way it is now. I don’t think that we should be bringing children into the world unless we’re going to make that commitment to make it better for them.”
