Did Prince William and Princess Eugenie Have a Good Relationship Before Kate Came Into the Picture?
A lot has been made about the Princess of Wales’ (formerly known as Kate Middleton) relationship with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s daughters.
This comes after it was reported that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been banned from attending Royal Ascot, and their homes in London are currently “under review” and being reconsidered amid their parents’ past involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The “review” is one that Prince William and Kate reportedly pushed for.
Moreover, according to a recent Express report, “The Princess of Wales has reportedly been ‘wary’ of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie ever since they ‘snubbed’ her beloved sister, Pippa, at a fashion show back. The incident, which is thought to have occurred three years before Catherine married into the royal family, allegedly ensured the trio would never have a warm relationship.”
There has also been chatter that how close Eugenie became with Meghan Markle when she started dating Harry didn’t do anything to improve the princess’s relationship with Kate. But what about Eugenie and William? Were they close before the prince got married? Here’s what an expert noticed in past photos and videos of the cousins together.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “I think with Eugenie and William, they clearly had a very close bond. They joked around with each other a lot. There are photos of them together at the races where William took a swipe at her hat, for example. Their body language in those moments was similar to when someone is caught messing around. Very sheepish smiles and strong eye contact with one another, they are in their own little world with their own jokes.”
So what changed? Well, as he prepares for his role as future king, William is said to feel no sympathy amid Andrew’s scandal as he is no-nonsense when it comes to the monarchy and any problems that threaten the institution’s survival.
Someone with whom Princess Eugenie still has a good relationship with today, despite her father and mother’s sins, is Prince Harry.
According to Stanton, “Harry is such a fun person and Eugenie clearly is as well. When they are together there are a lot of reciprocal gestures, genuine enjoyment and smiles. Their eyes are always engaged, and their smile lines and crow’s feet are strong – signs of a strong bond and real happiness in each other’s company.
“I think the beautiful thing you see from photos … that came out a while ago of Eugenie at a fancy dress party with Harry and Meghan, is that you almost forget that they are royals. Their gestures are so free and fun. It breaks down the barrier of formality that so often surrounds the royals. You can see how genuine their rapport is.”
