Prince William to Bring Down the Hammer and Ban His Uncle Prince Andrew From More Royal Perks
In a move that seemed inevitable and for years many hoped would happen, Prince Andrew has finally given up his Duke of York title.
Following mouting pressure from senior members of the royal family and the majority of the public, Prince Andrew released a statement on Oct. 17 that read in part: “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family … I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”
The disgraced prince has already been told he is not permitted to attend several upcoming public functions including the royals’ Christmas morning appearance at Sandringham. But Prince William reportedly thinks more should be done following the reputational damage Andrew has done to the family, and the Prince of Wales is prepared to bring down the hammer.
According to a report from The Sunday Times, when he becomes king, Prince William is going be a lot tougher on Andrew than his father, King Charles, ever was. The future king is already set on banning his uncle from all aspects of royal life and that includes William’s own coronation.
The outlet noted that the Prince of Wales also plans on banning Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson from all royal gatherings as well.
The Daily Beast reported that when he ascends the throne, William will also have an executive royal order known as “letters patent” accepted by Parliament to strip all other non-working royals of their titles and have his own children’s titles “parked” so they can decided if they want to use them in the future or not.
