Princess Beatrice’s Father-in-Law Breaks Silence After Claims That the Royal’s Marriage to His Son Is in Trouble
Amid Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson‘s fallout following the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files in which their names appeared hundreds of times, their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie‘s lives have become tabloid interest.
One story that gained enough traction to have people is the princess’s circle speaking out is the claim that Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are having marital problems and are headed for divorce.
Several publications noted that Edo, who is a property developer, has been traveling overseas for work since January. He shared a clip on Instagram of a building site in West Palm Beach, Florida, where a luxury hotel is reportedly being built, as well as ocean views from different parts of the Sunshine State. Those snaps fueled reports and speculation that he and his wife are “navigating” distance between them, which then led to friends of the couple going to the press to set the record straight.
“The only thing Bea and Edo are navigating are their busy jobs and looking after their children!” one friend told Hello! “They’ve both had recent stints working abroad and like so many working parents, have been balancing work with looking after the kids. Recent reports that things aren’t good between them are not true at all. Things are great between them and the only distance between them recently has been physical distance because of work!”
Beatrice is the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti and was recently appointed a director at Purpose Economy Intelligence Ltd. She also founded the advisory company BY-EQ in 2022.
Edo’s father was recently approached to weigh in on the couple as well. Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi was asked about the rumors that his son and the princess are having problems in their marriage. The Italian aristocrat refused to comment directly on the claim, but urged reporters to ask Edo directly.
“I have plenty of opinions, but I am not going to talk about them,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s not my affair, you should go and talk to my son about it.”
Beatrice and Edo, who were married on July 17, 2020, have two daughters together, Sienna and Athena. Edo also has a son, Christopher Woolf nicknamed “Wolfie,” from his previous relationship with architect Dara Huang.
Many royal experts agree that something the princess is struggling with at the moment is the constant attention her parents’ long association with Epstein has brought to her and her family.
Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, told The Sun: “Beatrice was always close to her dad and witnessing his epic downfall would have destroyed her. Princess Beatrice is very sensitive, and, as witnessed by her recent visit to her ostracised dad at Sandringham, she is very kind. She would also worry like mad about her mother, Sarah Ferguson, who has always confided in her.”
Beatrice’s father has always denied any wrongdoing regarding his relationship with Epstein, but has not made any public comments since his arrest in Feb. 19.
