Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Even More ‘Disappointed’ in Their Mother Sarah Ferguson Than They Are With Their Father
King Charles’ brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson’s names have been in the news a lot lately.
Amid fresh allegations about the former couple’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew relinquished his Duke of York title. Then, less than two weeks later, the king stripped his sibling of the prince title he had held since birth. On top of that, the Palace made it known that Andrew and Sarah were no longer going to be able to reside in their massive Royal Lodge residence.
Andrew and Fergie’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie‘s names then got dragged into their parents’ scandal as well when it was revealed that the sisters were with their mother when she celebrated Epstein’s release from jail in 2009.
An email written by Epstein, dated in 2011, read: “[Sarah] took apartments in New York. She was the first to celebrate my release with her two daughters in tow. She visited me with [a] policeman sitting at my front desk. She has asked for help with her charities.”
A source close to Sarah said she and the princesses do not recall that visit. However, Beatrice and Eugenie’s names being in the same sentence as Epstein is not something they wanted and something that at least one expert believes has them pretty upset with their mother.
A friend of the family told the Daily Mail‘s royal editor, Rebecca English, “I would actually go so far as to say that they are even more disappointed in their mother than their father now. They also love their mother dearly, of course they do. She’s a wonderful grandmother, too, and they are deeply concerned about how this is all affecting her mentally as much as their father. But I think it’s fair to say the scales have also somewhat fallen from their eyes.”
Andrew and Sarah’s ill judgment and behavior with Epstein has also brought about questions regarding the princesses’ titles and if they will retain them since their parents no longer have any. The Palace made no mention of that in a statement released shortly after Andrew’s titles were taken away.
