Priscilla Presley Says It Would Have Never Occured to Elvis That She Was With Another Man
Priscilla Presley’s most prolific love was Elvis Presley, but once-in-a-lifetime love doesn’t always last forever. Priscilla knows that. Despite plenty of love, she and Elvis divorced in 1973, two years before he died of a heart attack at just 42 years old. During the years between the divorce and his death, he still reached out to his ex-wife. In her upcoming memoir, Priscilla Presley admits that while she had a semi-serious relationship with Robert Kardashian, she never uttered a word of it to her ex-husband. In fact, she doesn’t think that the thought that she would have been with another man ever crossed his mind.
Priscilla Presley doesn’t think Elvis ever knew about Robert Kardashian
Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley’s marriage was a complicated one that ended in divorce in 1973. The Hollywood icon, who was just 21 when they wed, discussed her decision to split in a 2016 interview. Over the years, she maintains that she didn’t divorce Elvis because she wasn’t in love with him. She said they split because she needed to have her own life. Her own life briefly included Robert Kardashian, the patriarch of the famed Kardashian family. Elvis never knew.
In her upcoming memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis, Priscilla recalled a phone call she once received while Robert Kardashian was asleep next to. In the book, she writes that she snuck off to take a call from Elvis while her then-beau, Kardashian, was in her bed. She theorized that it would have never occurred to Elvis that she had a man in her bed, and that might have been a good thing for the late lawyer. In the excerpt, she writes that her ex-husband, who was known to carry a gun, would have gone “ballistic” had he learned she was seeing someone.
Why did Priscilla Presley and Robert Kardashian break up?
Priscilla Presley still thinks of Robert Kardashian fondly. She’s spoken of him before and has had nothing but positive things to say about him. She even had a final chat with him shortly before his untimely death from cancer. So, if she thought of him so fondly, why did they break up?
Presley claims that Kardashian’s career ambition and ultimate goals simply didn’t align with hers at the time. She explains that Robert Kardashian worked long hours, which left her feeling a bit dejected. She went on to explain that he also was ready to settle down and get married, while she was just figuring out what her life looked like as Priscilla Presley instead of Elvis’ wife.
Just a short time later, Robert Kardashian met and married Kris Jenner, and the rest was history. Just like Presley, Kris Jenner has also spoken highly of Kardashian, despite their own complicated divorce in 1991.
