Sarah Ferguson‘s relationship with Prince William has always been somewhat of a mystery. But after her name appeared hundreds of times in the Jeffrey Epstein files, most royal watchers believe the future king feels the way about her that he does about his Uncle Andrew and would rather not have anything to do with her.

Now, there’s chatter that something Sarah said even before those documents were released set William off. Express reported that Sarah angered the Princess of Wales when she made public comments about Queen Elizabeth II following her death.

When the queen died, her two corgis, Muick and Sandy, went to live with Sarah and Andrew. On a few occasions, Fergie spoke about caring for the late monarch’s dogs. At a Creative Women’s Forum event in London, Sarah said that she believes Queen Elizabeth communicates with her through the canines.

“Every morning, they come in and go ‘woof woof’ and I’m sure it’s her talking to me,” Sarah told women’s advocate Rebeca Riofrio.

According to royal expert Emily Andrews, “Prince William was apparently ‘furious’ that the former duchess used this anecdote” about his late grandmother.

This report comes at a time when speculation is growing about William’s future reign, as many believe he will not deal with anyone or anything that threatens the monarchy and its survival.

One source recently told journalist Rob Shuter that William’s no-nonsense approach is “what the royal family needs” at the moment, explaining, “William is not afraid to make hard calls. And right now, that’s exactly what the royal family needs. Charles leads with his heart. William leads with strategy. The monarchy is under more pressure than ever … [William] understands the stakes. This isn’t just family — it’s a business.”

As for the corgis, they now live with Andrew at his Sandringham residence.
