U.S. President Donald Trump‘s first state visit to the U.K. with his wife, Melania, took place in 2019.

At that time, Queen Elizabeth II hosted the couple. The press reported on a few blunders by the POTUS, like when he walked in front of the British monarch. However, an expert is sharing that the royals probably didn’t mind Trump’s mistakes.

Here’s more on that, plus the six words the late queen reportedly uttered about Donald and Melania Trump’s relationship after meeting them in person.

What Queen Elizabeth reportedly said about Donald and Melania’s relationship

King Charles will host the president and first lady during their second visit. But many want to know what the king’s mother thought of the Trumps when she met them. Well, according to sources who spoke with biographer Craig Brown, the queen formed an opinion about their marriage during her initial meeting with them.

Express noted that in his book, A Voyage Around The Queen, Brown claimed that the late monarch made a surprising six-word comment about why Donald and Melania Trump stayed married. While the queen never publicly made her feelings known on how she felt about her American guest, Donald Trump was confident he was her absolute favorite.

“[Queen Elizabeth] believed President Trump must have some sort of arrangement with his wife, Melania, or else why would she have remained married to him?” Brown wrote, adding, “For his part, Donald Trump was confident he had been her favorite guest ever. ‘There are those that say they have never seen the queen have a better time, a more animated time,’ he later told America’s Fox News.”

Stanton explained that the royals acted as professional and gracious hosts throughout the Trumps’ first visit and likely didn’t mind the “mistakes” the president made because they weren’t on purpose.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “There were lots of open palm gestures from Camilla and Charles during Trump’s previous visit — this is something that denotes openness, honesty, trust, and respect. There were no signs of microexpressions of anger, no flashes of surprise or fear anywhere. They gave him latitude to make mistakes as they knew he didn’t do it intentionally.

“There were also no signs of nervousness or fear from Trump, Camilla, or Charles at the state banquet. They walked in unison at a steady pace as they entered, with Trump’s shoulders back, projecting deliberate confidence and keeping in step with the Queen. There was plenty of matching and mirroring throughout.”
