The Real Reason King Charles Is Going to Meet Sarah Ferguson’s Demand for a New Royal Residence of Her Own
Over the years, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s behavior has damaged the royal family’s reputation.
Their association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the fresh allegations that have surfaced recently were the last straw.
Prince Andrew finally gave in to the growing pressure from the public, as well as King Charles and other royals, to give up his Duke of York title. This also meant that Sarah, divorced from Andrew since 1996, would no longer be able to use her courtesy title of Duchess of York.
The royal family has also reportedly banned Fergie and Andrew from appearing at upcoming royal family gatherings, such as Christmas morning at Sandringham. However, Andrew and Sarah still enjoy a major royal perk: occupying a massive family estate known as Royal Lodge.
The calls for their eviction from that property have only grown louder. Despite the prince’s 75-year lease agreement, he and Sarah are willing to vacate sooner rather than later. However, they’re giving a couple of demands they would like met before they agree.
Andrew has requested that he receive Prince Harry and Meghan’s former home, Frogmore Cottage, in exchange for leaving. Sarah wants Adelaide Cottage, which Prince William and Kate are due to move out of in just a few weeks.
A source close to the former couple said, “No one is really sure how it’s going to go down at the Palace yet. Andy is willing to leave, but these are his demands. He is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall and that his time at Royal Lodge is up. If he must go, then he has asked for Frogmore Cottage.
“Incredibly, Sarah has said she wants Adelaide Cottage. Sarah and Andy have lived together at Royal Lodge since 2008, despite being divorced, and seem like they are still a married couple … Frogmore Cottage is too small for both, and Adelaide Cottage is around the corner. So they will see each other whenever they want. Both [propertied] have space for their daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, and their families to visit.”
While many were taken aback that Andrew was brazen enough to ask for another royal home. It’s equally, if not more, surprising that Sarah believes she should receive anything. However, the Palace is reportedly in talks to move the pair from Royal Lodge into other Crown Estate properties.
Now, a royal expert is sharing that King Charles likely has a specific reason to keep his ex sister-in-law “happy.”
According to the Daily Mail‘s Rebecca English, “The monarch wants to keep Sarah happy so she doesn’t consider writing a tell-all book about the Firm. The king is a kind man, but his patience has been pushed to the limit. However, the last thing he also wants is another Spare [the vitriolic memoir brought out by his own son, Prince Harry, in 2023].”
