A ‘Laguna Beach’ Reunion is in the Works
Millennials, it is happening. After years away from the beach, the cast of Laguna Beach is reuniting. While rumors of a reunion have circulated before, this is the first time that the reality TV show’s cast members have confirmed the cast of Laguna Beach will be returning for a special. While details are still being released, we have some details. This is everything we currently know.
The cast of ‘Laguna Beach’ will reunite for a reunion special
It has been almost 20 years since TV viewers first sat down and watched Laguna Beach. The series, fun and dramatic, managed to develop an entire genre of TV. Now, Roku is ready to celebrate its contribution to the TV landscape with a special event. On September 24, news that the cast of Laguna Beach would come together for a 20th anniversary special essentially broke the internet. Lauren Conrad, who served as one of the show’s main characters, broke the news on Instagram.
Kristin Cavallari has also confirmed she’ll be involved in the reunion special. Following Conrad’s announcement, Cavallari dropped her own Instagram post about the upcoming reunion. She also shared Deadline’s article about the big news. This isn’t the first time Cavallari will be revisiting the series. While her recent reality TV shows have focused on her current life, she also launched a podcast with her ex and fellow castmate, Stephen Colletti, to discuss the show that started it all. Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen brought several cast members on to discuss their time on the reality TV pioneer, including Conrad.
According to Deadline, along with Conrad and Cavallari, fans can expect to see Colletti, Lo Bosworth, Talan Torriero, Trey Phillips, Christina Shuller, Dieter Schmitz, Jessica Smith, and Alex Hooser. Series creator Liz Gateley is also attached to the project. One major name not mentioned in connection with the reunion yet is Jason Wahler. Wahler, now a mental health advocate, dated Lauren Conrad and was central to several storylines in Laguna Beach and its spinoff, The Hills.
When can fans expect to see the show, and what will its format be?
We don’t yet have a release date for the Laguna Beach reunion special, but we do know it will air sometime in 2026. The show first premiered in 2004 and wrapped up with a finale episode in November 2006. The 20th anniversary of the finale is still over a year away, but it feels like fans can probably anticipate the special in the earlier part of the year, considering when the planned project was announced. It will air on Roku.
The special is not a reboot. Instead, it appears it’ll be filmed as a reunion special. According to a press release, the special will include the cast reconnecting over important moments. They will also be sharing behind-the-scenes stories with fans. Exact plans and format details have not been revealed. Still, it appears the reunion will be structured similarly to Friends: The Reunion.
