It’s been a while since Prince Harry and King Charles have spoken or seen each other. The duke admitted as much in May 2025 when he said that his father wasn’t speaking to him over his security court case.

After Harry ran to the media with that piece of information, it seemed a reconciliation with the monarch wasn’t likely. However, progress has been made as advisors for both the prince and the king were seen holding a meeting in London.

However, the fact that Prince Harry approved this meeting, which has now been leaked to the press, is not sitting well with the Palace.

Here’s more on that, plus when the king and his youngest son could see each other next.

Prince Harry and Meghan deny leaking details about ‘peace meeting’ with the king

The photos that were published in the Daily Mail showed the duke’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and Liam Maguire, who runs Harry and Meghan’s U.K. public relations team, meeting with Tobyn Andreae, the king’s communications secretary.

The publication reported that the trio was spotted on a club terrace together at the Royal Over-Seas League in London. So just how did details of their private meet-up including the location, the timing, and the nature of the meeting get out to the press? Well some are pointing the finger at Prince Harry and Meghan for leaking the info. to the media. The Sussexes’ reps, however, have vehmently denied the couple being behind the leak.

A source close to Harry told The Telegraph that the photos appearing in the news were “a disastrous start” to what was meant to be a “quiet step towards reconciliation.” And now, the whole thing is being downplayed and called an “informal meeting” with the senior advisors, and nothing to do with negotiating any type of “peace summit” as the two sides just had “things they wanted to talk about.” Meaning that this leak may have caused more distrust and halted any progress.

It’s believed that Prince Harry has not seen his father since the king was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. The royal will be in the U.K. in September for the Well Child Awards. And he’s already said that in 2027, when the city of Birmingham host the Invictus Games he’s hopes that his dad will be there for that.

Prince William’s aides were not involved in the discussions

Not surprisingly, no one from the Prince of Wales’ team attended the talks.

It was always thought Prince William would be a much harder sell to forgive or even communicate with Harry again after all the royal bashing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have done over the last few years.

William is particularly upset over the direct attacks on him and his wife, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton).

William has made his feelings about his younger brother known to those close to him. As a friend told the Daily Beast, “He feels utterly betrayed … He hates [Harry] for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews … It’s no secret William would prefer it if Harry never stepped foot in England again.”
