RHOC’s Heather Dubrow Lost $5.8 Million on the Sale of Her LA Mansion: ‘Gigantic Fail’
RHOC star Heather Dubrow has been dealing with constant drama on the show, but her life off-camera is full of ups and downs, too. Heather and her husband, Terry Dubrow, recently sold their Beverly Hills home for $400,000 more than they paid for it. Unfortunately, they revealed that because of the amount of money that went into the home, they ended up losing millions on it.

In 2023, the Dubrows bought a 9,000-square-foot home in Beverly Hills for $16.1 million. They recently sold the home for $16.5 million, but the couple revealed that they didn’t actually make a profit.
“We lost $5.8 [million]. I’ll tell you why,” Terry said on the Between Us podcast (per Bravo), adding, “We bought the supplies for the guest house… We did a lot of stuff to the property, right?”
They wanted to renovate 50% of the home and expand it to include two new bedrooms, a gym, a speakeasy, and a movie theater.
“This was going to be a billionaire’s home, for sure,” Terry said. “It would be [worth] $80 million to $85 million.”
The couple said that one of the two construction companies they hired to complete the renovations wasn’t honest with them about pricing. As a result, they needed to have sold the home for roughly $20 million in order to break even.
“It was a gigantic fail,” Terry said. “So if you don’t like us, congratulations. We bombed. We got killed on that house.”
The couple ultimately decided to cut their losses and sell the home rather than finish the renovations.
She offered advice to anyone looking to remodel a house
While the Dubrows flipped the house, Heather said this had never been their intention.
“We never intended to be real estate people like that,” she said. “It wasn’t a goal. We never said, ‘Oh, we’re going to do a lot of real estate, or ‘We’re going to build houses,’ or ‘We’re gonna do that…’ We sort of are like unwitting house flippers… and this house that we just sold, I think, was the first house we ever put on the market. Maybe one other.”
She warned anyone looking to renovate a home that they need to be careful when hiring builders.
“You really have to vet your builders. It is imperative to go with people that you’ve worked with before,” she said. “But you have to know your builder. You must get a budget up front. You must realize that some things are going to swell a little bit… But you have to do your own research. You have to know what things cost. You have to know what lumber costs, you have to know what trees cost. You must find these things.”
Heather Dubrow will reportedly end this season of ‘RHOC’ in a ‘dark place’
Heather is on the current season of The Real Housewives of Orange County. The drama is already picking up, but cast member Tamra Judge said things will only continue to escalate. She said that the season ends on a dark note, at least in part because of a fight between Heather and Gretchen Rossi.
“It’s something that I’ve kinda known about for a long time,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “And it’s so dark, it’s like, you don’t really want to talk about it. But also, do you want to be friends with someone like this?”
The 19th season of RHOC will air this fall.
