LAPD homicide detectives are currently investigating the death of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The famed actor and director, 78, and his wife, 68, were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14. Police are treating the deaths as a double homicide. Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead inside their Brentwood home. According to an insider who spoke to People, the couple’s daughter alerted police about a problem at the residence. She reportedly found them unresponsive in the home. According to the outlet, she placed a 911 call for medical help. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The longtime husband and wife reportedly died from stab wounds.

The LAPD held a press conference in the hours after the gruesome discovery. They refused to confirm the cause, manner, or time of death. They did, however, note they were investigating the incident as a homicide. The LAPD spokesperson emphasized that they did not yet have a person of interest or a suspect, though earlier reports indicated that the LAPD was speaking to a family member.

Their personal life was publicly quiet

Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner met on the set of When Harry Met Sally…, introduced by a mutual friend. They married in 1989 and began a family. Together, they welcomed children, Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner, and Romy Reiner. Rob also had a daughter, Tracy Reiner, from his first marriage to Penny Marshall. Marshall died in 2018. Reiner and Singer Reiner were largely private, sharing few details about their personal lives.

Reiner continued his work as a director; his projects were fewer in more recent years. Still, he had an upcoming project related to his famed Spinal Tap flick in production at the time of his death. Just a few months ago, Reiner, along with his wife and children, appeared together for the premiere of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
