The internet erupted recently when a professional dancer featured on a reality competition show called Strictly Come Dancing talked about having a royal couple in the ballroom. The show is the U.K. version of the U.S. dance show Dancing With the Stars and is just as popular. So hearing about members of Britain’s royal family putting on their dancing shoes got fans pretty excited.

Now, the royal, who has appeared on a reality competition show in the past, is responding to whether he and his wife will participate in the dancing program in the near future.

Royal family member responded to the rumors about appearing on the dancing show

The rumors about possibly seeing some royals in the ballroom all started when Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Erin Boag said she wants Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, and Zara’s husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, to sign up for the beloved show. Boag recalled the pair coming to support her when she was dancing with former English rugby star, Austin Healey, back in 2008.

Fans began thinking it could be a possibility since Mike was already a contestant on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here. He even talked about his dancing skills while on that show.

But Mike has shut down the rumors that he and Zara will go on Strictly Come Dancing.

According to Express, Mike responded to the reports, saying, “Just say we can’t do the Strictly curse, we are not going on it. We are not taking the risk. We are very happy.”

The Strictly curse he’s referring to is where relationships between some of the contestants and the pro dancer they’re paired with turn romantic, leading to alleged affairs and breakups with their partners at home.

Expert says Mike and Zara always show this when they’re together

Following Mike’s response, an expert weighed in on the Tindalls’ relationship and what is so clear whenever we see them together.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Mike and Zara are really on par with Kate and Will in terms of how totally authentic they are. They appear to be in their own little bubble — making prolonged eye contact alongside regular, genuine smiles in each other’s direction — a key sign of a deep and strong bond. 

“They show a lot of public displays of affection and are very tactile, which is another key sign of deep rapport. They also both seem incredibly confident and comfortable at public engagements. Their gestures are open and welcoming. There are no guarded, protective movements or any other signs of nerves. They are also very consistent in their behavior, which is a great trait for a royal to have, but also shows that they are always being honest and authentic.”
