Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could leave the U.K. within weeks. That could happen if Harry doesn’t get stronger security for his family. RAVEC is reviewing the Sussexes’ security after their return to Britain. A source claimed that the Duke expects RAVEC to act soon. “It feels inevitable that Ravec will do something, that is what [Harry] thinks,” the source told Daily Mail. Harry reportedly believes he has a “strong” case. 

Harry reportedly believed RAVEC could reverse its earlier position. “He is a target not because of a lifestyle choice he made but because of who he was when he was born. He thinks that a decision will come imminently, this week or next week, and that it will be a Ravec U-turn,” the insider said. 

The same source added, “The expectation is that the Home Office will try and play down and mute as much as they can to save face, but it is coming.” According to another source, “If he doesn’t get [security] then I believe he will go back to Montecito for good, and that could be as soon as half-term.”

The source also questioned, “The view is that if they don’t get security then it will have to mean that Ravec has been nobbled. The need is so clear, what else could be the explanation?” The friend added, “So if he doesn’t get it then he will take that as a sign that there are deeper elements at play. In that case then he will be safer in the US than in the UK, so he will return.”

As of now, RAVEC is reportedly reviewing the family’s daily “pattern of life.” Their regular movements, travel, and routines could all factor into the review. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s school arrangements have already raised concerns. The kids left their first U.K. school after just two days.

Their security team reportedly worried about the journey to their school run. These included the distance and heavy traffic. According to the BBC, Harry and Markle’s spokesperson said, “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.” 

They added, “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.” Meanwhile, the couple’s security fight goes way back to 2020. After stepping down as working royals, they lost their previous level of publicly funded police protection. 

RAVEC decided that Harry would no longer receive the same level of protection in Britain. Harry later challenged that decision in court. The High Court rejected his challenge in February 2024. He then appealed, but the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal in May 2025. 

Currently, where the couple is staying in the U.K. is still unknown. However, the Cotswolds are reportedly their likely base. Harry and Markle are also reportedly keeping their $14 million Montecito home in California.
